I heard horrific screeching noises last night at around 11 pm, so I went outside to see what was going on. There was a guy from my street with a flashlight looking at something. He said "Look at them, the raccons!" I looked around but couldn't see them until I noticed that they were actually on top of the porch roof! Three raccoons were on top of this roof, big ones no less, and they were fighting! I mean killing each other fighting. It seemed two of them were together, I assume a male and female, and they were trying to knock the third off the roof. They had him cornered into the trough and they were both biting him. One was biting at its face and upper body, the other was biting it's hind legs. The noises raccoons make, wow. It was extremely vicious, and I was concerned that the third guy would get knocked off onto the concrete some 12 feet below and break his back, but luckily he was able to fight both the other raccoons off. Afterward, the two aggressor raccoons left and the last one remained, licking it's wounds. I saw what looked like blood on it's hind legs and some on its side, but it was dark and I couldn't tell for sure. It was amazing though.
Three raccoons killing each other on a roof 20 feet from my house! When I came back inside, all my animals were sitting right at the front door. I guess they too wondered what the commotion was all about.
