Wikimania Thursday
Today is my first full day at Wikimania, a gathering of about 350 people involved with Wikipedia, other projects hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation and open source and wiki people of all types.
An hour or so ago Brion and I did a radio interview with dw-world.de, the German radio world service, expected to appear on their web site tomorrow. Mentioned how learning MySQL to help Wikipedia led to me getting hired by MySQL. Will be interesting to see what, if anything, makes it to their site or broadcast. Wikimania hits Frankfurt (in English) is up today.
Lots of press booked here - more than 100 contacts so far. A US crew with Danny Schechter (maker of Weapons of Mass Deception) is here as part of making a documentary film about Wikipedia. They apparently heard the MySQL hiring me story and did a mini-interview about that.
