I got some me time now
Well... many of you have wondered what happened to me during the summer. Then let me tell you, a little thing called JLP. What?! What was that? You dont know what JLP is? oh then let me tell you. It is a wonderful place full of imagination and no cares in the world. JUST kidding. It was my summer job, John F. Long Memorial Pool. But its much more than a job, it is an experience, a lifestyle that sadly many of you have not experienced. Let me take you all through a pictorial summer of
First, I must lay down some historical information. The pool opened, well i dont know when it opened, but i first started working there in the summer of '01, the Reign of Kelly. It was a new experience for me, working on my own, underneath older, much wiser people. Working along side me were: of course Kelly, Jeremy, Kelly B., Anne, and Adriene. It was the six of us against the whole neighborhood of Colonialtown. What an exciting summer that was, waterballoon fights, the flirting with Tory, Rummy games,
Ghert, Gherts Ghost, and the fish, oh the fish!!! We started making fish of funny things that happened or of pool patrons that came regularly. Needless to say, it was a very sad time when the pool closed for the summer.A whole year went by, talking with Anne and Adriene and Kelly, not knowing what was going to happen next year.
Then came the Summer of '01, the Year of the Pat and JLP Clue, the suspects: Manager Pat Kane, Madame Annie Hebb, Mrs Adriene Zedick, Professor Jacob Sum, Sergeant Gil Grey, Ms Allison Hannah, Mrs Crystal Traugott, Ms Elizabeth K Flora, and Col Robert Burrows and M Tyrone Walker. Not to mention Mr Alex Patrick Taylor and Ghert's Ghost. Why the Clue characters you ask? Well it seems i have no life whatsoever and made a Clue board game of my beloved JLP on the premise of Who Killed Pat? so we can congratulate them for a job well done.
This summer had its up times (when pat wasnt there) and its low times (when Pat was there) and it was full of great Real World JLP moments between some coworkers. This was a treasured summer that I can't help to look back for we all made everlasting friendships, even if some people are in the Boon Hills and Japan. Plus everytime i put in my 2002 JLP It's Been a Summer CD it just takes me back. (I even still have my JLP Jersey, can any of you say that?!)
Next year, '03, the Anne Administration. This year the pool went through somewhat of a lull... (No offense Anne). Clicks were formed, no one really hung out with each other. The proprietors this year consisted of: Anne, Adriene, Me, Allison, Beth, Jen, Brett, Kristen and of course Milov, Sarah. Everyone seemed to be mad at each other, friendships disapated, friendships never formed... BUT I have to say it was a great summer, ALL summers a JLP were great. Again I had no life and created a Monopoly Board to commerate the year.
And now, the moment youve been waiting for, '04, the Return of Anne. Oh what a fun year it was. Personally, it started off a living hell because I was looked over for Lead posisition, Adriene wasnt coming back, and Bobby... Bobby Bobby Bobby.... To sum it up, I didnt having another cock in the henhouse, and i thought he was annoying. But, I dont know how it happened, but we became good friends. Very weird... And everything at the pool seemed to flow easily, except for the waterfall at the end. The beneficiaries include: Anne, Corey, Me, Adriene, Allison, Jenn, Bobby, and (MACAW) Nathan. And here you go:

The Game, 13 Dead End Drive, equipped with 12 great players all JLP worthy (no warthogs or mosquitos at our pool) and 5 death traps. Again I had no life.
Our last outting to Animal Kingdomas the JLP crew before we all went our seperate ways, and before Hurricane Charley came through:
We all had our shares of great times and great stories, I can not even begin to explain what happened there. (But I gotta bring up that park bench one more time, that was THE highlight of the summer.)Even through the hard times, we, well maybe not all of us, got through. We all learned something about ourselves, such as I am the greatest person ever, as well as others, such as there is no possibel way Bobby will ever come out of my shadow, or Allison can not talk about boys for one day. But then the summer fun came to an end as all things must do :( Very sad I know.
We all went our seperate ways as we all do: Anne, back to Flagler, Adriene to Stetson, Corey to Rollins, Allison (my little girl has grown up!!) to UCF, Jenn to Val-High, Bobby to FSU, me to UF, and Nathan back to Winter Park. Alex is still faithfully with Annie, God bless him (jkjk!!). Orlando has gone off to do better things, such as Pirates 2. Ghert still remains at the pool, waiting for another summer.
After the Rape of Hector, new rule will come to our beloved JLP, as Annie passes her torch and thus begins the Age of Adriene, then I will dispose of Adriene shorty then I shall rule, until then I am stuck at school, thinking of another summer.
JLP has been my summer home for the past four years and I thank everyone for making my summers the best ever.
Looking forward for next summer. New fish, new people, new memories.
