Life's been good to me...

Gosh, I love spring. The weather is fabulous here and, even, better, I am headed to Boston for a week. The weather report there looks good (aside from scattered showers later in the week) after all the recent rain has departed. I was hoping to venture to Boston for the first time in nearly 2 years for Mem Day when I realized that my company is exhibiting at a tradeshow in town the first part of the week. One convo later and I am attending half of the conference and working remotely the balance of the week. I'll be rooming with SP just like old times, the last time before he becomes hitched later this summer. Not exactly the venue for a bachelor party since AP cannot make it up from NYC, but we'll have fun since he's finishing his exams Wed and his better half will be finishing her PhD dissertation on Friday. Coincidentally, SV flies in on Friday night.

Perfect timing.

So, yes, I am all kind of happy. Dinner with colleagues on Tuesday just so happens to be in my old stomping grounds in the North End (not my choice, but would have been!), so that fulfills my obligatory trip to Mike's for some cannoli. However, since Spicyflower is also a pastry chef, there might be competition for my taste buds. I better run to Boston with all these calories.

Speaking of running, it's been a good time running lately. SV and I completed the GW Classic 10-miler in April and have used that as a springboard for the Marine Corps Marathon in October. So far we are up to 13.5 miles, which is far ahead of last year's pace. My only problem is my patellar tendon (tendon just below my knee) that I agitated last fall is still bothering me. It's not as bad as last fall in terms of pain (discomfort immediately subsides when I stop and does not flare up later or next day at all), but it's definitely problematic. The point where it bothers is later and later distance-wise, so it's getting better. However, my mileage increase is outpacing the healing pace, for lack of a better pun. So, yesterday, I bought a patella knee strap and am hopeful this will help. Additionally, I was fitted for new running shoes. Everyone was amazed at just how worn my old Brooks Dyads have become. They also determined that the shoes, while better than my previous shoes, are not best for my feet. They special ordered some snazzy Brooks Addiction for me. Don't they just make you want to get up and run 5-miles? They just called to inform me that they are in and ready to be picked up. With any luck, the patellar tendon strap and new shoes will mitigate the knee problem and enable me to complete the final 7 miles of training for October. Now, if we could only keep this weather for the summer as well...

Work has been really busy, but we landed a new client, Bluefly which is tremendous. Now we are scurrying around to find fashion savvy agents to fulfill our promises. Just in time for the annual reviews next month, heh.

Okay, I should finish up here before getting my new shoes and packing.

Happy spring everyone!
