SV: Good job flirting with my mom (tonight).
JK: Huh?
SV: I've never seen her smile so much!
JK: Well, I do have a way with the V women.
-----

That was tonight. SV is totally perplexed by her mom now. I accompanied the family to the grocery after work today, had dinner and chatted for a couple of hours and her mom was okay with it. Everyone else has been telling SV that her mom knows. I was last on the boat, but I climbed aboard. Now, SV is confused.

-----
SV: Either she knows and is okay with it, and that's preposterous, or ...
JK: Hey! Thanks for the compliment.
-----

Since her father knows, I am centering my attention on the mother, whom everyone's worried about. Amazing how listening to someone whose husband is quick to talk and rarely listens for 5 seconds, can put someone at ease. Listen, smile, nod and ask questions--it's like the key to good date dialog. How can you disown your own blood over a person who is the only one who listens to you? That's what I thought. Heh, when I finally revealed the two words of her mother tongue that I actually know, she laughed and taught me two more (which I already knew): mother and father.

So that's my evening. And I am to return at 8 a.m. on Saturday for a morning trip to Mt. Vernon, followed by lunch in Alexandria. Go figure. The saga continues.
