Bright Roving Annoying Teens,
(BRATS)
11th to 14th March, Langkawi 2007.
I flew MAS at 8.30 am with some of the other Brats and senior Brats. The flight was uneventful, I spent my time talking to Debra (fellow Bratling who was next to me). We arrived in Langkawi and shared a van to the hotel, which was actually walking distance (if you're a cross-country runner).
We got our tags, t-shirts, books, and spent the rest of the morning (the programe was only to begin at noon) playing cards. That was fun, and an awesome way to break the ice (not that there was much, since everyone was generally easy going) as well as time to bond with our senior brats. I learned a few new card games, and made loads of noise.
Then when the rest of the participants arrived, (40 in total) we made a big circle on the floor (in the conference room) and introduced ourselves, in interesting ways. I won't reveal them, because one of the fun things about Brats is that it's exclusive. So it's no fun to spoil the secrets. You need to experience it to appreciate it. That's the fun.
After that, we had an interviewing skills seminar, followed by a surprise interview that we found out later was staged. (I had a feeling...) It was then basically getting into our groups, getting briefed about our first field assignments, and getting to hang out with our roomies.
Four to a room, two on a queen sized bed. The room was pretty spacious, and the bed was nice and big. The best part though, was my roomies. They were awesome. Jannelle, Jessica and Joshin. We had such a good time.
The second day, we went to a fishing village that was affected by the tsunami, as well as touching about the rapid development of Langkawi (it's a duty free island) and it's effects towards the locals. It was interesting. The village had this bridge, that I swear looked like it was taken out of the Wizard of Oz. I mean, seriously.
The rest of the day was spent completing assignments, learning Brat games, playing on the beach with messy Brat games, being tired, listening to seminars and and and they took us shopping! And we bought Vodka. You know, the miniature bottles. And chocolate. Loads of chocolate. They're like half the price than in KL, so it was choc-alco fest.
I bought chocolate. Loads of it. Lotlot.
Our third morning was spent doing an interview for a celebrity profile. Our group got this artist dude, who we will swear was smoking weed. But like Ivy said, no accusing interviewees. So shhshh. His sculptors sucked, by the way. Then we spent the rest of the day with workshops, games, fooling around, rehearsing for a presentation that was totally funny, -- we did a Brats version of America's Next Top Model -- working on assignemnts, sneaking into each other's rooms, camwhoring, etc.
At night we had a barbecue dinner. And our presentation. So muchmuchmuch fun.
Josh - *playing a blonde model*
Me - *playing a diva judge*
K.G - *playing Tyra*
K.G - What's your talent?
Josh - Well, the Brunette's are going to Mars. Us blondes, are going to the SUN.
Me - *lofty-blonde voice* The sun is hawt!
Josh - Duh, we're going at night!
The night was then basically spent playing games, talking, eating loads of chocolate, pillow-talks, finishing assignments, more camwhoring, taking e-mails and numbers, and just being BRATs. It was tons of fun.
The last day, we had one final assigment, we created a magazine(Ken has it) N.U.T that stands for Never Use That! 10 points if you guess what kind of magazine it is. Then Glenn (the photographer for the Star) showed us picture essays, and presented our own picture essays. Pretty cool.
Sharmila later asked if I would like to write for R.AGE, which I agreed to. That will be funfunfun.

Our team clicked instantly. I mean, I've been to camps where it takes a while, and sometimes people just go through it. But this wasn't like that. We were like one big cup of mocha ice blended. It was awesome. By the way, the team name is because we're all camwhores. And the boys are soooooo vain *rollseyes* And pervs. Teehee. It was just so funfunfun. I dunno how we manage to do our work so well, we were hardly ever serious about anything. Probably because everything was so fun, so it didn't feel like we were working. Whatever. It was fun. I miss them all terribly. Plus, because of our team name, we have sooooo many inside jokes. i.e "You don't have chestnut, you have coconut, you need to learn to use your assets" Which most people won't get, but we laugh everytime.
I think I'm missing out tons of information, but I'm just toooooo sweeeeppy, to think and write properly. But it seriously rocked. So my advice: If you ever get in, GO FOR IT. I mean, a lot of people don't go, because of the transportation issue, but seriously, if you get it, don't miss it. If you already have, don't fret about it. You can always try next year =)
P/S - Pictures will be up once I get them.
