[James is in a slump. He's run out of metal bits to fiddle with, he doesn't have any new recipes, he's all stocked up on clothing, and there's just about nothing new going on with him in any way.
His response to finally realizing just how 2-D he was feeling... was not to do anything. Which takes the form of him lying sprawled out on a tree-branch perhaps due to some misguided attempt at doing something fast asleep.
And, as any good antagonist or protagonist, they're not very different when it comes to messing with vulnerable people knows, this is prime pickings for SOME kind of torment. Whether or not James will respond is another matter]
