Photohunt was, as promised, off the proverbial hook. It was cold and rainy for most of the day, but our team had a blast anyway. Winning was icing on the cake. The pics are up on neverforget for members to peruse; but they lose a lot in translation without the backstory to accompany them. If I have time this evening, I'll sit down and caption them.
Tom limped around the whole day (having sprained his leg at a concert), an injury he aggravated during photo hunt by slipping on a piece of trash in the shady public parking lot we used while looking for an entrance to the subway. We gave him crap about it, and I suggested he try to pass of his injury as an affectation of urban status, going as far as esteeming this manner of locomotion by quoting the Beasties:
Like a pimp -- I'm pimpin'
Got a bowl -- I eat shrimp in
Nothin' wrong with my leg, I'm just b-boy limpin'
So I found it funny when, on Sunday, I managed to pull a groin muscle while bowling. Most bowling injuries are funny to begin with, as bowling is only marginally more physically demanding than channel surfing, but mine was made funnier by the karmic justice aspect of it.
I was using Fotios' backup ball, and had 100+ points in the 6th frame of the first game (which is good for me) when I injured myself; I ended the first game with a 130-something. My second game that night was something like a 112. Last night, bowling was injury-free, and working on bowling a more aggressive curve I managed to turn another 100+ game in the 6th into a 137 all on my own, with no help from injuries to my bathing-suit area. My second game was in the 120's - I'll go bowling again on Thursday, and I hope to get a better handle on bowling a curve with a properly weighted and drilled ball.
The Mykonos Cafe nee City Cafe Diner, (re)opens today, with a bigger(!) selection of liquor, much more wine, and more Greek cuisine. I may go for lunch today (probably not), but I'm definitely interested in heading there for dinner tonight. Who's with me?
