The story

It's all over the news, so some of you have probably already heard the story but here it is

This is one of my best friends families. Her 13 year old brother was held at gunpoint and tied up. If their sister would have been home, they would all be dead. He was waiting for her to come home.

This is where God comes into play. He was watching over these kids. There's no doubt in my mind that he played a big part in this story and why instead of comforting my friend over losing her brother and sister, I was comforting her over what happened instead.

I got to spend some time with her brother and sister over the summer. I love those kids. I hate what alcohol does to us. I wish that everyone was as blessed as I am. To know and love recovery. There was a time I thought that my life of drinking and using was the best there was. I couldnt imagine living without it and didnt want to. And then I hear stories like this. and I see the pain that it causes and while it leaves me hurting and confused, I feel blessed at the 2nd chance I've been given to live a good life. And to know good people. And to be there when they need me.

I was watching the news this evening and her brother was on, and Johnna says hey mom, that's my friend. And I said yes Johnna, that is your friend. And thanks to God, we'll get to spend more time with him.
