We went out for breakfast at Rick's this morning and then hit our three favorite thrift stores since my sister has to work tomorrow morning. I had my usual bacon, wheat toast and iced coffee. I'm the only one in my immediate family that doesn't like hot coffee but my mother told me that my great grandmother liked iced coffee so I don't feel totally odd. However, she can't explain why I sometimes like putting salt in my coffee (old sea captains used to do this and it does cut down the bitterness). I used to drink iced tea when we go to Rick's but that's almost as expensive as pop nowadays.
But I digress, so getting back to original topic of this post is that I found two packs of playing cards for fifty cents each at the third thrift store that we stopped at. The first was a Cheetos pack from 2002 featuring Chester the cheetah.

The second pack was Miss Piggy as a saloon girl from Hallmark or so I thought. Inside the box was a pack of Kermit the frog playing cards from Jim Henson Associates, Inc. 1987. "Deal the cards, pardner!" is written above him.
My Google Fu discovered that a two pack set with Miss Piggy and Kermit was released in 1980 with a bridge score pad. The two packs were then released separately so somehow I have the Kermit playing cards with a Miss Piggy box. I'm thinking that the thrift store already sold the other pack or never had one. To be honest, I like seeing Kermit the frog dressed up as a sheriff from the Old West anyway.

The back of the Miss Piggy Playing Cards box has the following:
"She's the queen of our hearts and the diamond of our dreams! She's the stunning, vivacious star of stage and screen! She knows what the deal is...she's always a winner! Let's have a big hand for Miss Piggy!"
