the killers-- somebody told me

My parents really are awesome. I need to remind myself of this more often. They never fail to put a grin on my face, when they get excited by the things they are passionate about. Almost like kids.

Sunday, my dad and I went hiking in the White Mountains, and on the way down Mt Washington, a front came over us, spitting down little ice pellets. I thought it was hail, but apparently, no, it was "graupel." My dad was practically dancing with glee about being stung by the buggers-- and the harder it came down, the happier he seemed. "This is soooooo COOOOOL!" He's obsessed with the mountains, and obsessed with bad weather. The combination of both is a million times better.

And just now, I got an email from my mom, including this link:

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/08/10/1092102430354.html?oneclick=true

with the message: "Rocks rule! I love volcanoes!" (she used to be a geologist, and volcanoes are her favorite). When the apocalyspe comes, and it is in the form of a gigantic, deadly volcano, she'll be one of the handful of nuts in the world who flock TO it and watch the eruption with delight (while everyone else is sobbing and repenting for their sins).

What dorks ! :)
