A tip from an alert employee at a resort just outside Two Harbors, Minn., early today helped lead to the arrest of a Wisconsin firefighter sought in the disappearance of his four children.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office announced that Craig R. Underkofler, 56, of Middleton, Wis., was arrested. An overnight employee at the Superior Shores Resort noticed Underkofler after Wisconsin authorities issued a statewide Amber Alert on Tuesday.

The sheriff's office said that four children with Underkofler were returned home.

The Madison Capital Times reported that three of the children were reported missing by one of his ex-wives when Underkofler didn't return them to her Middleton home as scheduled. Another child living in Madison also was reported missing. The children range from age 3 to 17.

Resort official Darrin Young said the employee reporting Underkofler, who wasn't immediately identified, "did an exceptional job in recognizing the individual."

The sheriff's office said it was holding Underkofler pending extradition proceedings. He is a lieutenant and 25-year veteran of the Madison fire department.
