Well, my life is officially like the game show Who's Line: The games are made up and the points don't matter. i have become so fed up with corporate america over the last couple of months that i could just scream. Not that i know right off hand how to fix the problems of this capitalistic society, but at least i can say there is a problem. A perfect case in point comes from Delphi Corp. About 3 weeks ago i had a phone interview with the investor relations director (ooooh, big fancy title) that went really well. He was impressed and i really liked the way the corporate culture sounded. Bung! A job i want and one i can get - what else do i need?!?! So time goes by (because when dealing with large corporations decisions seem to move at the speed of decomposition) and today i get my call back from the director. He's a cool guy and after talking for a couple minutes about what's been going on he reveals that he has good news, but the the bad news that he has trumps the good news. Aww Hell. The good news is that i would have been invited for a second interview.....if the entire hiring process hadn't gotten the axe from upper management. What? So, i didn't get the job, but either did anyone else? Apparently that's the case. i guess i am glad that i would have gotten a second interview if they were being offered in that it shows i am doing something right and now completely wasting my life trying to work in finance. On the other hand i think that the corporate hiring process (which seems to take almost as long as the catholic church does to find saints) could use some serious work. Over the course of this summer i have only dealt with a few select companies that have actually acted with some tact and returned phone calls and emails with cheetah like reflexes. The majority of the time the turn around is more like a snails pace.......there is something seriously wrong with this system. I think I should have majored in sequencing.
