I have finally returned from my short trip in Melbourne. The Easter holidays have gone from bad to worse but I think there are signs of better luck. Like I got my work experience placement at CISCO. *screams and dance in joy* Anyhow, let's get back to the topic on Melbourne. xD
Melbourne. Well, least I can say that Melbourne is a place that needs time to be loved. At the moment I prefer Sydney. Much better weather for a start. The Melbourne autumn is the equivalent of a Sydney winter. The cold in Melbourne is also very different from Sydney. In Sydney, the cold is refreshing, in Melbourne it chills you to the core. It also feels kind of grey. There aren't many people there and is much quieter than Sydney. When I go to the CBD in Sydney it feels more lively but walking through Melbourne's CBD to me seemed more like walking through a quiet Sydney suburb.
I also went to the 12 Apostles and Ballarat. The 12 Apostles were probably the highlight. They were pretty amazing things to look at but I wouldn't go there again. The ride there was cold and kind of painful. Ballarat was just as cold and quite dreary. Once again, the gold mines...hmm, well, they were kind of interesting? Once you've been to one gold mine, every other gold mine kind of looks the same.
Overall, it wasn't the best holiday. It was interesting but nothing too fascinating. Same could be said for everything in Sydney but I think sometimes, it is more than just looking at the city and the tourist spots. You really need to go where the people are (the suburbs) to experience a city in my opinion. People say there isn't much in Sydney apart from the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House and that's kind of true. Saying that all the bars and nightlife in Sydney is gay is quite nasty. Every city has their own good points and it's everyone's personal opinion on which city is better.
There's a lot of nice stuff in Sydney apart from what is in the city. The bays in the Inner West adjoining the Parramatta River are more amazing than Melbourne's Yarra River and Docklands. The quiet streets and parks in the South West which are amazing for bike riding. Birkenhead Point which is a really lovely factory outlet shopping centre with stunning views. You have fascinating national parks in the city's north. Can't really say much about the rest of Sydney because it is really big and I haven't been to most of it. I can only really talk about the west because I've lived there my entire life. Well...I haven't lived in the west west part of Sydney but I've lived in the western parts namely the south-west and inner west.
Sorry I'm only rambling all this time though. I don't have any images because on the last day of our trip in Melbourne my Dad left the camera in the hotel toilet and we haven't seen it since. I promised to take heaps of pictures and I did but I lost them all. I'm upset too because I loved those pictures I took. I was also using them for my assignment and I needed the camera really badly for that same assignment too. There were also other pictures that I only just realised that I didn't save onto my computer. I only have one good one so I'm pretty upset by that. I would love to say that we'll definitely get it back but the chances are slim to none.
That's all for now. Let's hope for a more positive future folks~!
