Sometimes you realisation dawns upon you slowly. You don't understand until you mature to a certain degree.
I feel that it is great that every time I listen to a good song, I hear something different, feel something different.
Yesterday, as I was playing bassline of Guren. I understood something more. I was able to play with the feel and emotion behind the lyrics. You don't play Guren with force. You play it with tender sadness. You are the sadness. You make it seem all the more tangible.
When I play, I feel the overwhelming sadness and I let it come over me. I let the emotions run free and often I cry as I play it. I try to mimic the raw emotions present in the song. Straight after the intro there is a guitar solo type thing. It's short and I think it's Aoi but straight after it, the rhythm starts up again and that has to be quite soft. It's like someone strong slowly losing their energy or life. That is why it has to be softer. The pulsing of a heart slowly growing weak.
Then comes the chorus and it is played stronger but it is not that person growing stronger. This is a strong chorus played with a tinge of melancholy. The chorus is showing the melancholy as that person is dying faster. As the death that is imminent grows stronger.
The part that comes straight after it is when the person's death sets in. This is the utter sadness. The part where one should start crying. It is here the colour of red on the person changes to white. This is where the life of this person passes into the hands of death.
Later on there is this part which is distorting the image in our mind. It's like we are seeing that person die. It hurts a lot and this is the strangled cries of our melancholy as death is brought upon that person.
The explanation is getting worse but sometimes I feel that reviews for songs, etc are somewhat lacking. They describe things like they know the song in every way. They think they know what emotions are presented but in reality, they don't. Just listening is not enough. To feel and be the music is a whole lot different and it is here you understand.
