as the sun lays glowing red...

Greetings my dear!! I’m finally back after a few days away from my hometown! It feels so good to be back in Sydney. The sky and weather in Sydney is much nicer. Port Stephens had lovely beaches and atmosphere but Sydney is where I belong. Maybe you’d be interested to know what I did and see some pictures of it. As this may be quite long, I’m putting it under a cut! Sorry I'm posting this so late Rii-chan~!

This is the holiday park we stayed at. The rooms are really nice! The colours are really pretty and it feels cosy. It’s clean and my room is bright and sunny! I even get a huge queen bed! I feel privileged to be able to sleep there. xD I enjoyed the nights and the mornings where I watched television to my heart’s content.

I enjoyed playing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” on my friend’s violin and I played it in the morning. It was squeaky and random but it was cool! That night we had pizza for dinner and we ate it outside on the veranda. We tried to watch TV at the same time but it was quite difficult. “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader” was on but it wasn’t the one I was used to. It was all americanised. I really liked that show but now it was just downright crap. Sorry, but I can’t really stand those overly strong rolling American accents. I don’t hear them often here which is why I’m not used to it. I think that’s why when it comes to English music; I prefer British or Australian products.

The sunset when we were eating dinner was gorgeous. The sun was glowing red. The clouds were all wonderful shapes that looked like animals. I loved the glowing red sun the most though. I had never seen the sun like that.

During the day, we went on a dolphin cruise. It was really really hot and I was boiling. I was also really tired. I was practically asleep. The dolphins looked like little black triangles. It was much fun. The sky was also hazy because violent winds had stirred up dust and other crap. Later, we went inside to the air conditioning to get away from the violent winds. There were Japanese tourists and I have to say they were shorter than I imagined them to be! They had two kids who were pretty cute. Their baby son had this really round head. It was funny when he smiled because I did peek-a-boo.

We had one performance that night at the holiday park we were staying at. We had to perform for the people staying there. Most of the audience were elderly but that was okay. It was hot and not the greatest performance we played but nevertheless, it was an okay performance. I thought it was one of the most terrible ones ever but the music coordinator said it wasn’t. I guess we got past it.

We went back to our cabin and I played on my friend’s Nintendo DS. I don’t get to play it often and I like Mario Kart so I played that. I really want that game for my Wii but I just can’t find it just by itself without a wheel. I’m still looking. I really want it for Christmas. I’m not that good at Mario Kart though. I’m a terrible gamer. I don’t play games often because of this. I prefer writing long entries on my blog or playing on Pigg. 8D

I slept in the room by myself and it was nice. I fell asleep earliest because no one was there talking to me. My friends next door were quite noisy though. I was really happy that day. I enjoyed walking to the small shops. I bought two small trinkets. They were really cute. They sit on my window sill now.

The next day I woke up and got out of bed before six. It was freezing! I didn’t bring a jacket so I wore my ensemble uniform instead. I snuck out to the living room and set up my friend’s violin. I went into their room quietly and started to play “Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars” but they woke up. They told me not to because I would be too noisy. I sighed and went out to watch TV instead.

I watched Sunrise and then later switched to watch ABC kids. I watched ‘Ruby Gloom’! It’s one of my favourite shows. Now the song that one of the characters played is stuck in my head. “Frank and Lan, Frank and Lan, Frank and Lan. We’re Frank and Lan!!” I think Misery is my favourite character though. She’s hilarious is this strange way and she is so beautiful.

The second day was better. Our overall band performance was much higher. We went to primary schools, which are my favourite. I really like little kids! It’s the most fun to play at these places but the second school was terrible! They were talking throughout the whole thing. They pointed at us and whispered, mostly likely, nasty things. Our conductor eventually told them off. It was atrocious.

I just HAD to put this picture. It looked like she was holding a lightsaver. It was hilarious!!

During the two performances, we got to go shopping at Salamander Bay shopping centre! It was smaller than what I was used to but what more can I expect? I really liked that music store though. It was pretty and I saw a limited edition Rogue Traders CD on sale for only $14.99!! That is really cheap! Too bad I didn’t have enough cash to buy it but even if I did I probably wouldn’t. I’m not that in to them but it brings back good memories! It has all my favourite songs by them and I started listening to them again. I love Natalie Bassingthwaighte’s vocals. I loved Rogue Traders!! Plus, I love Australian accents. XD

There was one HUGE boo-boo to our trip though. We went to K-Mart and before we even entered two elderly shop attendants stopped us. The female one spoke to us first and straight away asked us “Do you speak English?” in a slow manner. I don’t know whether I was shocked or insulted but I certainly knew that all of us were thinking “…”. The other, which was male, asked me and my group of friends in general “Where are you from?”. Before I could even answer he quickly said, “Let me guess, Korea?” I gave him a funny look and told him I was from Sydney. He kept asking the same question again and again and I simply gave him the same answer over and over again. He only stopped when my friend Jasmine told him we were all born in Australia. What he said next shocked us all, “Good on you!” Weirdo. It’s probably never seen an Asian in Port Stephens his entire life. Seeing an Asian is as normal as seeing a Caucasian.

In the afternoon after all our performances were over, we went to see a lighthouse. It was closed though so everybody headed down for the beautiful beach. It was lovely. The water was just right. It was a bit windy but I loved every bit of it. I just walked along the beach myself in one end because the other end was not as nice and far too noisy. I enjoyed humming to myself and walking along the beach. It was bit too windy at times but it was capable of blowing away my thoughts. I thought good things. The sky was beautiful too. The sand was whiter than in Sydney. The sea was a lovely blue but it didn’t have big waves.

As I was walking back to the coach, my conductor asked me whether I had been connecting with my ancestors as I walked across the beach because I had been walking with a stick constantly and constantly driving it through the water. It looked like I was trying to catch a fish just like the past ones of this land. In actual fact, I was waiting for people to move out of the view of my photo. XD

The evening was a lot of fun too. We had a better dinner than the previous night and afterwards we prepared fun questions and ran across in the rain to go to a trivia quiz. We ended up coming third in the quiz! I was really happy. We got sour worms as a prize. They were pretty okay! I even made cranes out of fantail wrappers. That was fun. I hadn’t even tried that before but it was a good idea.

Afterwards we went back to our room and we were exhausted. We just slept and it was peaceful. The next morning however, we had much difficulty getting up. We eventually got up and the first thing we did was watch TV again. 8D It was fun though. I watched the Mr Men show whilst eating Arnott’s biscuits. The Mr Men show was funny.

We had a show in the morning and it was exhausting. It started pouring when we got to the place. By the time we had everything set up, I was sweaty all over. We performed and unfortunately I had to stand up. I had a sore arm after playing standing up for 25 minutes or so. Now the muscles closest to my shoulder blades are dead. I have hardly any energy to play and do things.

Afterwards we got these really nice Christmas bags. It was a nice souvenir. I finally got to look around in the shopping centre again and I went to Bi-Lo to buy tissues. My nose was all runny and I couldn’t find anyone with tissues!! Afterwards, I found some buddies and I walked around with them. I went to the music store I had really wanted to look at and it was fun.

It was nearly time to go and I really felt like food so I bought three cinnamon donuts. They were so nice and sugary too! Afterwards we left and we found out we couldn’t do tobogganing. That was a huge boo boo. We saw the track later (which by the way is about 1km long) and it was awesome! It would have been such a thriller and we missed it! I missed it for the second time! I can’t believe my bad luck.

I ended up doing rock climbing instead and I was scared shitless. But eventually I did finish one. Phew. I was really scared. Later I played with the boats and motorcars (remote controlled ones). I had heaps of fun crashing them. I can’t wait to drive!! I also played air hockey with the timpani player Bianca and it was lots of fun. It was rather violent though. Although she is a grade younger than me, we have a good time chatting with one another.

We also went on a tractor ride up the hill and the ride was okay but the maze at the top was crappy. It’s hardly a maze. It was lame but I loved the trip back down. The sandwiches we had for lunch were nice too. We finally left Port Stephens to come back and I was half asleep for most of the trip. I played a little bit on the DS but that was it.

I’m glad to be back in Sydney, the place where I belong.
