Since it's been a long time since I've played him, I'll go ahead and post a quick "revised" personality writeup, though it's probably not much different...
Jale is a quiet guy. He speaks when spoken to and when something needs to be said, but otherwise he's perfectly content to blend in with the background (while popping in the occasional question or comment as a reminder that yes, he exists). It's not that he has no opinion, or is shy -- but that he's perfectly happy with letting his friends do the talking while he forms a more comprehensive analysis of what's going on. Because of that, he might come off as a bit aloof to people who don't know him well. Talk to him one-on-one, though, and you'll get a decent conversation; he's not quiet for the sake of quietness, but because his outspoken friends do a good job of saying what he's thinking sooner or later. Take them away and you'll get a slightly more talkative Jale. When he does speak, though, he cuts straight to the point. He keeps his thoughts to himself -- unless you're a giant ass, in which case he won't be above tossing around some fightin' words.
He cares deeply for his closest friends: particularly, Sieg, Marica, and Liu. Some people hold their ideologies or dreams above all else, but for Jale, his friends are what he holds most dear in life. If he perceives them to be in trouble, he'll be one of the first (if not the first) to pitch in his help whether they think they need it or not. He is, if nothing else, reliable. Perceptive when it comes to both people and nature, he's a good friend to have around.
As a martial artist and faithful contributor to small village life, Jale is athletic. He's got a sturdy build and is used to hauling his ass across the plains of his native Citro. He punches animals and rabid monsters in the face as a matter of choice, so it would be hard to think he is anything but gutsy. It might be that he gets his chutzpa from his mom. If he slacks off in his training even a bit, she will slap him around like it's nobody's business. Fo' real. He finds her more frightening than any animal, and yet she is his greatest rival and motivation toward improving. He looks up to her as a standard and loves her somewhat grudgingly in return for her oftentimes humiliating doting. She knows how to embarrass him. He strives to become her equal and is only willing to negotiate with her as a peer, which she is greatly amused by.
As much as he likes to play himself off as a cool cat, he's not immune to looking like a big derp. His sense of humor is sometimes strange, he being the only one to get the punchline. What's more, he turns into a clumsy mess when he's especially worried (read: when Sieg disappears without a trace), becoming prone to dropping things without warning, running into walls, tripping over nothing, etc. And of course, when everything's all resolved and the day is done, he will try to act like nothing had been bothering him that whole time. He doesn't make a conscious effort to look "cool", but he's still got a reputation to uphold, you know.
Information will continue to be updated as it occurs to me to do so...
