Phewf ba boom boom

Well this evening was my first ever public performance on the drums. I suppose because I've played for so long and because I've performed a few times in my home and around small casual places that it didn't seem like such a big deal.

Anyway, today was the Hills Road chamber concert. I was picked out of the three drummers in jazz/funk (pretty damn cool) to represent us. I got there at 6:45 and wasn't needed until the last performance, which was around 9:45-ish.

The other performances were exceptional (possibly making none of them exceptional). I was mesmerised by the chamber choir and amused by the barber-shop lot. (<3 Peter, PJ and Jonny!). However, I was extremely nervey- cheers for Peter, Mark and especially Eric for helping me keep my cool =P.

Anyway, the performance went fantastically. The moment I started playing I lost my conservatism and chanced some funky fills amongst 'Summertime' and 'Chameleon'. I was most worried about the endings of the performance but I got them spot on both times. At the end there were lots of people giving me metaphorical pats ont eh back and PJ even said I was the 'unsung star'- probably because I didn't let the fact that I didn't have a drum solo affect what I played =P.

A great night by all accounts- apparently Mrs. WIlliamson was front row- hahah.
