I'm glad they did it, too. And a team on SG-1 with Sam, Vala, Janet, and Lam sounds great to me. Too bad we never saw that. Hathor came kind of close, but only because the men had all been compromised.

My ire lately was started with the canceling of SGA and the announcement they were making a new show to appeal to a younger demographic. I heard this a lot with Star Trek, too. I feel marginalized with these kinds of comments. I love SciFi, but I hate it when my favorite shows are canceled or changed because they want to attract young men. Sometimes the changes are good, but often, they just marginalize older female viewers and that pisses me off. But what am I to do? They think I don't matter - and neither does most of the boy's club you mentioned. You, personally, I have absolutely no problem with. In fact, you should be an honorary member of the girl's club :) - should you wish to claim that dubious distinction (not sure it will be all that beneficent for you.)
You're much better off staying in that demographic that TPTB want to attract.
