So I've been participating in the most excellent
got_exchange If you haven't been over there, go check it out! There's some SERIOUSLY awesome fic happening, and so many pairings/prompts/ideas. This was my contribution, and since it went up yesterday, I'm guessing it's safe to put up here! I'd honestly meant for it to be a little character sketch kind of thing

Um, you don't know me, but I was just re-reading this fic, and when I saw your name in the comments, my reaction was something like: "OMG that's the person who wrote that amazing Jon/Sansa fic over on AO3!!!" So I clicked your LJ name and here I am. <--Please pretend all of that is less creepy than it sounds.
I wanted to review this on AO3, but I don't have an account there yet, so I hope you don't mind me invading your LJ to do it here.
Basically: I loved everything about this fic. Every. Single. Word. But there were a few things in particular that stood out to me, which I'll talk about below. Please forgive my teal deer, but this fic gives me a lot of feelings, ok?
>>>"Janos Slynt was sent to the Wall when you were there, yes?" Surprised, Jon looks up. She sits there, her expression unreadable, but one finger taps the arm of her chair, and he suddenly understands that his answer is important to her. He rises. "He was." "I heard that he was executed by your orders." "He was executed by my hand." He can see her swallow, see one hand tighten in her skirts, but she doesn't say anything for a very long time. Then, "Very well." "My lady?" Jon asks, confused. Is she referring to Slynt, or- "I will marry you, Lord Snow."
This was fantastic. I love that there's still enough of the girl in Sansa that this -- the moment when she learns that Jon turned out to be the hero she'd hoped for so long ago -- is the final detail that decides the matter for her. She's older and wiser and more cynical, but she hasn't completely lost the romantic and idealistic part of herself, the part that still wants a hero, and it gives me all the feels.
>>> "Sansa," he repeats with a little bow. He pauses, trying to decide if his next words will make things better or worse between them. In the end, he risks it and says, "That's a pretty name." It is worth it. She turns to the door, but before she does, he catches a glimpse of her smile.
Not gonna lie, that made me squee a little. That one passing mention in the books of her telling him he should always say a girl's name is pretty stood out to me as so adorably sweet, even on my first read-through and long before the thought of shipping these two ever crossed my mind. It was lovely, seeing them have a ~moment together based on that line.
>>> As he rises, Sam catches his arm. "She cares for you," he tells Jon. "And in marrying her, you've kept her safe and secured her place here. You've done the right thing, Jon." Briefly, Jon covers Sam's hand with his own. How like Sam, to get to the heart of what was troubling him. "Thank you, my friend," he replies, wishing he could believe in himself as much as Sam does.
Dawwww, Jon-Sam bromance ftw. <3
>>> "Dismiss your ladies."
Um, hawt. I don't even know why, but something about that line struck me as so incredibly sexy. Like, DO ME NOW sexy. I don't know how Sansa managed not to drop her knickers smallclothes right then and there, tbh.
And the news that you're planning a sequel? Oh. Muh. Guh. EXCITE.
Thanks for writing this fic. It was a joy to read.
