Happy Tuesday, All! Hope that is lovely wherever y'all are, seeing as how here in AL, it is roughly the temperature of the surface of the sun. I'll take 100+ days in July/August, but in early June? NOT FAIR, MOTHER NATURE.
Other than bitching about the heat, I've been bitching about the latest episode of DW (although on rewatch, I DID dislike it less than I had previously.) Mostly I felt like the River Reveal was anti-climactic and STILL not that much of a reveal (as
nostalgia_lj said, was River's parentage really one of the things we ever wondered about her?), and the episode itself just didn't...hang together well? If that makes any sense? It felt very all over the place.
Also, if Steven Moffat never does the, "IS AMY TALKING ABOUT THE DOCTOR OR RORY???" thing again, it will be too soon. Dude, we get it. She's always talking about Rory. That's fine, but enough already. And I'm not even saying that as an 11/Amy shipper, since I'm kind of a weird shipper anyway. Like, I love writing/reading fic about them, and I think Matt Smith and Karen Gillan have the MOST delightful chemistry, but I never really expected/wanted them to happen on the show. I mean, it's Doctor Who. As long as the Doctor is half the pairing, it can never end well, you know? So mostly I just like to watch their pretty faces and smile at them as they banter/hug/flirt/argue. But it kind of seems like this season, even that has fallen by the wayside. SIGH.
I want more of THIS. 11 and Amy being pretty/hot and looking like they're about to GET SHIZZ DONE.
HOWEVER, this weekend was not a total loss RE: Things I Enjoy because I saw X-Men: First Class, and it was EXCELLENT. Like, STUPID ENJOYABLE, and I grinned through the whole thing, and now I want to read ALL THE FIC about it. Seriously, if any of you stumble across decent fic involving basically ANY of those characters, let me know!
Also, the entire movie could've been nothing but James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender Bromancing It Up in the 60s, and I would've been all :D!!!! I've loved Fassbender since Hex, but I always tend to forget just how MUCH I adore James McAvoy until he's right in front of me, being hot and stuff. And I loved that he was so roguish and charming next to Fassbender's more broody, tortured hero, and I loved the CLOTHES, and the MUSIC, and...oh, just go see it. And then write me LOTS OF AWESOME FIC. ;-)
So cute! Why do I ALWAYS FORGET THE CUTE?
I believe the term I'm looking for is "hummina hummina..."
