So the time is upon us.. almost. In under 5 hours time the First Semi for the Eurovision Song contest will begin. Here is a quick breakdown of waht to expect based on 30 second clips from youtube. Bolded songs are the ones the bookies think are getting through
Cyprus - Tamta "Replay" - $41 - this could be rather pitchy
Montenegro - D mol "Heaven" - $351 -If you are going to form a group that uses up all the people that are allowed on stage (6), you should make sure they can sing
Finland - Darude feat. Sebastian Rejman "Look Away" - $301 - If I look away then... I am not sure what to look at.
Poland Tulia "Fire of Love (Pali się)" - $251 - very Eurovision.
Slovenia - Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl "Sebi" - $126 - this is not the most exciting song in the contest
Czech Republic - Lake Malawi "Friend of a Friend" - $101 - definitely one of the better songs this semi
Hungary - Joci Pápai "Az én apám" - $251 - There appear to be a couple toilet breaks in this semi.
Belarus - ZENA "Like It" - $301 - This could be messy
Serbia - Nevena Božović "Kruna" (Круна) - $151 - A little Angelina Jolie
Belgium - Eliot "Wake Up" -$251 - this song needs stage presence
Georgia - Oto Nemsadze "Keep on Going" - $351 - this is an interesting piece
Australia - Kate Miller-Heidke "Zero Gravity" - $17 - I love this song so much that I voted for it like 10 times in the national final. Everything Eurovision.
Iceland - Hatari "Hatrið mun sigra" - $23 - How does one explain this to the kiddies. 'this is what mummy and daddy get up to when you are having a sleepover... "
Estonia - Victor Crone "Storm" - $251 - the bookmakers have this at long odds but the boy is pretty enough to qualify
Portugal - Conan Osiris "Telemóveis" - $151 - There are a lot of WTAF moments in this semi.
Greece - Katerine Duska "Better Love" - $34 - would be a contender for the Barbara Dex if Portugal were not in it.
San Marino - Serhat "Say Na Na Na" - $351 -There are some really dodgy nightclubs out there and this would be their theme song.
And for my opinion I think Australia, Poland, Finland, Czech Republic, Iceland, Estonia, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia and San Marino will make it through. Not that I even like half of those songs.
