Azerbaijan is a little oil rich nation that has managed to conform so well that the US is yet to invade it. Azerbaijan still conforms to this day with the formulaic commercial pop that they are sending to Eurovision 2018. With references to cannonballs, this could be a US pop song.
This song is not bad, it is just the same. It sounds like it could be something sung by a boy band, which is not surprising seeing the mixer on this is Ash Howes who has been association with One Direction as well as many pop starlets. He has also worked with East 17, which was probably such a career highlight that even Eurovision could not match it.
Ash Howes is not the only international Azerbaijan could afford to get in with their oil money. Sandra Bjurman is a Swedish writer who will wrote Eurovision songs for money and has done for Azerbaijan before (and won Eurovision). The songs he other co-writer Dimitris Kontopoulos also co-wrote the song that should have won in 2016,
“You Are the Only One” and the stage designer of that song, Fokas Evangelinos has also been brought in. with no expense spared this may at least look good.
