POTENTIAL GOOD NEWS HEADING MY WAY
real life stuff no one cares about, I know, but I am excited.
mkay, so as some of you might know, I work at a radio station! Specially, the NPR station for my state. I work part-time answering the telephones and making copies and stuff.
For the longest time, my immediate supervisor has wanted my position to be full-time, but it's never been in the budget for it. Well, a couple of weeks ago my supervisor got in trouble (not major trouble but enough to get yelled at by the big-wigs) and she basically told them that she needs assistance, that, when she got this job originally, she was doing half as much work and she can't do it all on her own anymore and that she's basically doing two jobs. Then, because she is awesome and loves me, she said that if they'd hire me full-time, I could literally take over half of the stuff she needs me to do, because she's already trained me to do some of the stuff in the database, which she's never trusted a part-time person to do before, but let's me do it because I'm smart enough.
And my big boss took her aside and basically told her to start training me to do more stuff in the database, and that as soon as they hired a full time news director (something they've been working on for months) they'd sit down and try to figure out what they'd need for a full time position.
That they want to start training me for.
That my supervisor basically told me "Yeah, if they approve it we'll hire you full time."
...Which means I'd get 90% of tuition at the university we're affiliated with. Which means I could get my Masters degree basically for free, so I could go off and do something I'd actually like to do with my life.
Also I got a raise? Which they don't *have* to do--my other part-time counterpart didn't get a raise. Meanwhile, I got the max amount they can give me, which means they like me and stuff.
BUT GUYS GUYS I MIGHT HAVE A FULL TIME JOB IN LIKE, OCTOBER.
WHICH MEANS I SHOULD BE ABLE TO AFFORD A CAR.
AND MAYBE MOVE OUT OF MY PARENTS' HOUSE AND LIVE ON MY OWN. LIKE, AS A REAL PERSON.
