Real life stuff no one cares about! Also, questions!

Dec 19, 2011 15:09

Because jade_sabre_301 wants me to answer questions I guess? Also because why not.

Also here,  spread me some holiday love, please and thank you. :D

1. How tech-savvy do you consider yourself?

Techy enough to be dangerous.  If the internet goes out, I usually know enough to be able to fix it, but I couldn't build my own computer or anything.

2. Did you have pets growing up? Do you like pets? Do you have one now? (Pictures of adorable animals are always acceptable.)

Eh, I sort of had pets growing up.  My parents didn't want an inside dog growing up, so we could only get outside dogs.  However, where we live, dogs get ran over a lot, so most of our animals died a gruesome death.  My parents finally relented, however, so we got an inside puppy named Peanut a couple of years ago.  He's the most spoiled rotten dog ever.

I've only ever had dogs because my mom is allergic to cats.  Ironic, considering that her name is Kitty.

3. Organized religion! Your thoughts.

Oh boy.  This is complicated.  You might want to skip this if you are easily offended.

So, backstory first: my dad was a Baptist preacher for most of my life.  From the ages of 7-17, my dad preached.  Which, as a preacher's daughter, meant that I went to every single church service there was, ever.  And, being a youngin', I had no opportunity to say, "No, I'd rather stay at home and work on smutty fanfiction, thanks anyway!"  So I don't think I'll ever be able to say I don't believe in God, because to reject God is to reject my father, and I don't think I could do that ever.

And I will say that, on the whole, I think Christianity is a good thing.  I think it teaches good things, and I think it makes good people, really.  I've made a new friend recently while playing D&D, and he told me that he thought I "embodied Christianity", which I took as a compliment (and, I think, that's how he meant it).

That said, I think organized religion is one of the worst things in the world.  Church, if it was anything like how it was supposed to be, people gathered around and discussing the Bible, would be fantastic.  But it's not.  And it doesn't matter what church you go to, because most of them are the same.  All the judgment, the gossip, the two-face-ness...I can't stand it.  It's why I've all but stopped going to Church, period.  Because it's not my place to judge others, nor is it yours, and I certainly don't think that the best way to convert someone is to shove a Bible down their throat and tell them they're going to hell.  And I want to believe that the God I love and worship loves people.  All people.  I like to think of God as a God of mercy, kindness, and love, not hate.  And so much of church, despite what they want you to believe, is hate.

I also have a problem believing that God is going to smite everyone who doesn't believe in him.  I mean, really?  I have some very good friends who are atheists, and they are good people.  Who do good things.  Is God really going to torture them and the rest of the world that isn't Christian for the rest of eternity just based on that? Really?

(tl;dr: my feelings are complicated sorry. I like the concept but hate how it's executed.)

4. What's your favorite breakfast food? Do you like eating food at the "wrong" time of day (e.g. cereal for supper)? (Bonus: Oh man, regional differences time: supper, dinner, or both, what do they mean?)

Supper is late dinner.

And pancakes!  Pancakes are awesome! For breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

5. What is your favorite way to "waste" time?

Internet.  (is this a surprise to absolutely anyone?)

6. Higher power! Your thoughts.

See above!  It's complicated, but yes, I think there's something up there!  Is it the Christian God, or Buddha, or Allah, or Zeus, or something? I don't know! My friend has this theory that there's one God, but he likes to play dress up, and I love that theory so I'll stick with it.  I will so, though, that I'll be so disappointed if nothing happens when I die.  I wanna come back as a squirrel or something at least, gosh!

7. What's your favorite word? Do you remember learning it?

My favorite word? Of all the words? :C  That's so...hard.

I like the way Legend sounds, and Nostalgia is one of my favorite words to write because it looks like such a clusterfuck.  I guess those are my favorites!

8. What's something your parents always said that you find yourself repeating? Does this horrify you in any way/shape/form? :-b

Apparently I answer the phone in the exact same way my mother does.  People can't tell us apart on the phone.

Other than that, no, not really.

9. Why do people get married? Why do/did you want/not want to get married?

People get married because they are in love! Also, tax benefits, yo.  And also because sometimes you just really like your roommate.

I am not against marriage per say, but I don't know if it's for me.  Hell, I don't think people are for me.  I've been pretty anti-social most of my life, and I think this has made me become/maybe this is because I am asexual.  The idea of spending forever with someone and having sex period just doesn't really appeal to me.  It's probably great for others, though, so have at it!

Basically, I'm a 22 year old virgin who has never been kissed.  Society tells me that this is something that I should be ashamed of/concerned about, but I'm not.  Maybe one day I will meet the "right person" and this will all change completely, but I doubt it.  Besides, I have friends, and that's all I really want, anyway.

10. What's your favorite breath-of-fresh-air/deep-relaxing-sigh/yes-that's-just-right poem?

A man said to the universe:
"Sir, I exist!"
"However," replied the universe,
"That fact has not created in me
A sense of obligation."
- Stephen Crane, from "War is Kind"

11. What's your least favorite chore?

Doing the dishes!  Argh hate it.

Now, questions for you!  Because I'm curious.

1. Do you write/read/draw fanworks?  How long have you done so?
2. Do you play D&D?  Or maybe video games RPGs?  If so, what class do you favor, or do you play multiple classes?
3. Have you ever DM'd?
4. Meeting people you've only ever talked to online: creepy or awesome.
5. Fandom vs. Real Life -- should the two ever mix? God I hope not.
