On friday´s all the Peace Corps Trainees go to San Jose to have classes together. It was raining most of the day, even though it is in the middle of the dry season. The day of rain left a haze over the valley of SaN Jose. We were taking the bus back to a pizza place that was along the road to out training sites. We live in the mountains and though we live prety close to San Jose the bus ride takes a while snaking through the winding mountain road. The road is just barely wide enough for two cars to pass each other in most parts and the rest only allows for one car to go through at a time.
We were going up the mountain and the pizza place we were going to was on the way to our host sites at teh top of a mountain. THis place is semi'hidden and one of the coolest plcaes I have ever been. THe bar is reall chill and relaxing it has a room with a couple love seats and burning incense. And not to mention pretty amazing pizza even for american standards. The best part it the view from teh bar. You step out onto the patio and you look across the valley and see San Jose lit up at night. In the foreground you see the silouhette of the mountains and hills that we climbed in the bub and the segways into the sea of lights. The lights seem like they go on forever until they fade away in teh the ramining haze from the days rain. It was ana amazing sight. I could have sat there for hours without talking to anyone without a beer and been perfectly content. The icing on the cake was the owner of the bar is really nice and actually anticipated we were coming, cause a few peopel came last week and opened early for us. HE had us make a chart with the different beers he had and we put a tally mark by each beer we took and got it ousrselves from the cooler. It was so refreshing to see. We were a bunch of foreigners that he doesn´t even know and he relied on our honesty to pay for what we took. I would never have seen that back in the states.
I am starting to settle into a routine of sorts here. I am getting more accustomed to life here. I am gettign used to rice and beans for pretty much every meal. I am getting to know more people in the town and feeling more and more at home . I am actually going to a dance tonight with the other volunteers at the community center. SO I will be making a fool out of myself infront of the whole town. But I am kind of looking forward to it.
This is a picture of all the RUral Community Development people. We are all in nearby towns and we have classes together once a week. If i can get anymore pictures up I will.
