Ok, I guess this will be my attempt at keeping up with my blogging. If I document what I did musically on a daily or at least nearly daily, I'll maintain a MUCH better contact with those of you who are interested in what the hell I do between these sporadic updates. I want the updates to be much less sporadic.
Monday after lessons, I worked on some stuff for the Mike Blair Project (as I will affectionately refer to it going forward). For those curious or unknowing as to it's details, vocalist extraordinaire (not enough adjectives to sum him up) Mike Blair (officially "Blair" for here) and I are working on his concept piece. As is almost a given in my projects as of late, James is on board as the drummer. We've also recently recruited the vocal services of my good friend Beth S. This is a work in progress, and it just gets better and better as it evolves. I miked up my rig and recorded some live rhythm tracks for a song (these are all working titles) "Dark Angel". Also spent a fair amount of time recording a solo for it. For the record, I love the tones I get miked up from my rig. Sent these off to Blair before crashing out.
Tuesday after lessons, James was rehearsing with his other band. I DID however realize just how good the bass rig that sits in my rehearsal room sounds. The head is just a plain old Peavey, so the tone is most likely in the cab. It's a Mesa 6x10. I may just have to mic that up for bass tones.... After they finished rehearsing I recorded guitar tracks for another Mike Blair Project tune tentatively titled "We Are One". Again, sent these off and crashed out.
Wednesday (today....well, yesterday) after lessons, Reggie came over, James, Reggie, and myself reviewed some tunes for the band. "The Band" refers to the progressive project consisting of James on drums, Mike Pignataro (officially "Mike" for here) on keyboards, myself on guitar, and now Reggie on bass. Mike is currently on the road for a few weeks with another act, so James and I are kinda prepping Reggie with the songs we have and getting him up to speed. It's going quite well. After that, Alena came over, we caught up on stuff (it had been a few days) and I passed on my guitar and bass tracks so she can put some vocals over them.
Also as a mini side note, today I also began having visions and pieces of a song that may become a solo Jake tune. It's kind of a weird personal topic that will be revealed in it's way should this idea make it to some light of day. I can't foresee it fitting in with any of the other projects. But you never know.
Plans for tomorrow.....er, later.... go to junkyard to put deposit on a transmission for the Sentra. Lessons of course, and somewhere around that work with Alena on the next tune, or possibly work a little more with Reggie and bass parts.
So here is a mini snapshot of what I do outside of teaching (and the occasional blog). I'm gonna do my damnedest to try and maintain this. Wish me luck :)
