Some brief updates...
I made the President's Honor Roll Summer Semester, and my GPA actually went down. Grr?
I went to a wedding in Albany, OR over the weekend, it was sort of awesome. After the wedding reception, we moved the after-party to a hick bar that was playing hip-hop. And it was sort of awesome. After we closed down the bar, we moved back to a house and partied some more. It was sort of awesome Until it was 5:30, I was the last one awake, and I couldn't find a reason to sleep. That was sort of not awesome.
The 5 hour drive down and back was fucking pathetic. Progress sucks. My thoughts sort of ended up dwelling on single-ness and relationships, and was over all probably a "bad mental state". I guess being stuck in traffic on a long road trip to a wedding will do that.
I danced. A lot. And was complimented on it. A lot. The wedding reception dance space got a little crowded, so I found some dark place out in a field and got my dance on. Later on, in the hick-hop bar, a girl tried grinding on me?... (She was really drunk.) After noticing I was obviously confused and uncomfortable she told me, to "Relax and enjoy it". If she meant dancing, I'd have enjoyed it more dancing on the non-cramped part of the dance floor.
Oh well.
Personal statements make my head ache in the worst possible way. And letters of recommendation only slightly less so.
We shut down most of production at work. Everybody got basically a 1-2 week period where they didn't have to come into work. Myself, and a few others, excluded because I don't have any vacation time remaining. Only one other guy and myself in my particular lab. Last summer he was sent to France for two-weeks of training. He knew pretty much nothing about the product that he was being trained on, while I had 2 years worth of experience. He got a paid vacation, and the company got basically nothing out of his trip. (I've expressed my resentment and disappointment with the decision to my boss. He was basically chosen as, "The closest person (literally) when the decision was made to send someone.")
Now, he's staying on at the company, and I'm getting laid off. He had the training in France. I haven't. And so when he came to me today with a problem, I gave him the, "You really don't expect me to try and figure that out for you, DO YOU?" look. 13 days left.
Okay, so maybe not so breif.
