Yesterday the Temperature got up to a bit above 60 the warmest since Winter. Normally by the time the temperature hits 45 or so the Chipmunks and ground squirrels are all over the place. We also had the coldest Winter in many years, coldest in the sense of having no breaks in the cold. Nearly every night since Thanksgiving the the Temperature went down to about 5 degrees F. Few days got above freezing and then not by much. The ground was snow covered all Winter. Normal Winters in the last ten years or so a few days during the Winter the Temperature would get up to around 45 and the ground squirrels would appear at least for a bit.
I suspect that they exceeded their maximum hibernation time.
Oh well there were so many of them they were a bit of a nuisance.
