There is probably no one must have trait, but a four of the following list would suffice.

Be interested and interesting.

Be reasonably well read.

Be reasonably articulate, in a language that I have a reasonable understanding of.

Have strong opinions and be willing to discuss them.

Be willing to argue or at least strongly discuss, almost any subject.

Not have bad breath.

Be up on current events.

Will buy a round when it is his/her turn.

Is honest.
