I listened to all of these just now. Though I still love "The Weight," I have to say that "King Harvest Has Surely Come" has pulled ahead of it in terms of my favorite Band songs. And "Don't Do It" is a close second.

Nice. I'm also really digging their version of "Long Black Veil" and of course "Life Is A Carnival" is awesome. For me "The Weight" has that feeling like "oh man, I've loved this song most of my life, why did I never realize that?".

Isn't that Mungo Jerry video RAD?

Yes, SO RAD! And I had no idea they were English! That Ray Dorset (lead dude) looks like a really nice guy. And yes, I know that was a very "Helen" comment...whatever.

Somebody to Love is a stellar piece of music. As far as Marley is concerned, I love 'Lively Up Yourself' as well, but I prefer the live version to the studio. That dude in Mungo Jerry has some killer pork chops.

Whoa... I was 100% with you on the first three songs, was willing to give Bob Marley a chance, and knew I would like The Band.

But Mungo Jerry?! Man, I can't stand that song! The beat is catchy enough (if kinda simple/dumb), but the lyrics are just appalling. I can't help but think of frat boys at spring break when I hear that song - drinking and driving, taking advantage of poor girls, etc.

However, their facial hair makes me like them significantly more than I used to...

Cool idea for a "top 5 songs" post - I might steal that idea for my journal...

Mungo Jerry brings up the point that it's definitely a "favorite" list and not a "best ever" list. "In The Summertime" is so full of good associations from my youth that I can't help but absolutely love it.
