Today was orientation and class scheduling at Akron. Skipping most of the dull details, I have a decent schedule. They have a thing where you sign up to take a block of classes with a bunch of other people who have the same intended major, which really helped because I was really confused about the credits and stuff, and this automatically puts you in most of your core classes automatically without you even having to schedule them yourself. For my math class, I'm in Basic College Math I. That's probably a good thing for right now though. My earliest class is at 8, but I don't have it on Monday so it works out. My latest class ends at 12:55, so I get to have most of my afternoon to study/work or whatever else I need to do.
My Academic Adviser seems really nice. That's good, because most of the ladies there looked mean.
I've kind of let my hair grow a little longer than I like it, so my student ID photo looks like I have a really big mullet wig on. Yeeah.
Our "Orientation Leader" was really, really flamboyantly gay. He was entertaining. At one point, he started rapping about noodles. He also told us about how awesome it would be if he had a pen as a beard.
I was kind of disappointed that Janelle wasn't in my orientation group, since I was stuck with all strangers, but they were all really cool people so it wasn't as awkward as expecting. There was a girl there who looked like what Sara Phleiger would have looked if she wasn't ugly and dirty. Weird, I know. I saw Janelle a few times during the day, but all of the times I saw her were after the "I only slept 2 hours last night and it's a long day" wave sunk in, so I was kind of cranky. She didn't seem to notice though.
Also, I finally get the "black people are loud" stereo-type now. I used to just assume it was one of those ones that was just made up, but nope, black people really are loud.
Campus doesn't seem nearly as big as it did before. I still am unsure of where most things are at, but I have a feeling it won't be as hard as I thought.
I was supposed to go to a bonfire at Megan's tonight, but I'm just too fucking tired to do anything other than sit around. I'm sure it would have been a blast, but I'm at that point where I'm too tired to even sleep, let alone go anywhere. Oh well. 4th of July bonfire at my house next week, and I actually got my parents to let me have it without my relatives coming, so it's just going to be me and my friends this year. Awesomesauce.
