Memorial services for Dr. Frank Anthony Romano III, 64, will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel in Jacksonville with Scott Pogue officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Dr. Romano died on August 17, 2012 at his residence. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Elaine Marie Romano of Jacksonville; a daughter, Corinne A. (Brian) Reed of Attalla; two sons, Nicholas F. Romano of Opapka, FL and Michael A. (Jennifer) Romano of Oxford; three grandchildren, Cooper A. Romano, Cadence B. Reed and Nathaniel J. Moore; his mother, Jessie Margaret Romano of Cocoa Beach, FL; five sisters, Judy, Bonnie, Laura, Jessie and Christine and numerous nieces and nephews. A Native of Fitchburg, MA, Dr. Romano was born on December 3, 1947. Son of the late Frank A. Romano, Jr. and Jessie Romano, Dr. Romano was a graduate of Ohio University and Syracuse University. He joined the faculty at Jacksonville State University in 1989, where he served as professor and department head until his retirement on June 1, 2012. Among many awards and commendations, Dr. Romano received the Association of Southeast Biologist meritorious teaching award. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the JSU Student Research Fund, 700 Pelham Road, North, Jacksonville, AL 36265.
