Snowflake Challenge, Days 8 & 9

Day 8
In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favorite interview, a book, a scene from a movie, etc) and explain why you love it so much. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Ho, what to choose! There are plenty of fandom that gave me a lot of feelings and I have been known to occasionally shout "Holy sh**t" out loud while reading or watching... But my last huge crush that translated into fannish activity for a fandom was Hannibal, and I could talk a long while about color choices, and subbtles cues or heavy symbolism... But a "Holy sh**t" moment was certainly the opening scene of season 2: Jack attacking Hannibal in the kitchen...

I love this scene for a lot of reasons: the sudden explosion of violence after a slow, contemplative start... It is the first time we get to see the unleashed, physically savage part of Hannibal, but also the first time we really see him get hurt, and it has a small taste of "you deserved it" after what he put Will through (and where the season 1 left us)... And of course the cliffhanger, and the fact that the scene is actually a flash forward so we have to wait the whole season to see how they got there and how it ends...
And the way it ties in with the last episode of the season is perfect for me: same scene, but with a lot more layers and much more to it as a whole... and the ways things evolved wasn't a let down after the build up, it was actually even better...
I was already pretty hooked, but I thing this is the scene that really made me fall il love with this show.

Day 9
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

I draw, and write both in french (a lot over the years, in many fandom) and in English (I have exactly 4 pieces translated)... So today I'm reccing 3 of each! :D

FANARTS

I choose pieces as different as possible from each other. ;)

- Jackalope Wives (Jackalope Wives & Other Stories, by Ursula Vernon)
This is an Inktober illustration for my favorite book of the year, a wonderful collection of short-strories centered around female characters and retelling of various legends or fairytales. Highly recommended!

- Be Bad and Be Mad (Doctor Horrible Sing Along Blog)
This one is older: two propaganda posters for the Evil League of Evil.

- La doctrine Tarkin - full book cover (Star Wars)
A few years back we published a friend's Star Wars fanfic into a 700 pages book as a present for him: I did the illustration on the cover, but also designed the whole cover to mimic the look of Star Wars book at the time. A friend with publishing skills did the inside layout and Arakashi28 designed the fake publishing house logo. Good times! :D

FICS (in english)

- Awesome as an army with banners (American Gods: 557 words and two illustrations)
Who is she who looks forth as the morning,
Beautiful as the moon, Clear as the sun,
Awesome as an army with banners?
A character study of Bilquis, as she is in the now, and as the Queen she was before.

- Will you join the Resistance? (Who will be strong and stand with me?) (Les Misérables/Star Wars fusion - 2128 words)
The bar is crowded and loud, and Grantaire is nursing his third Cardassian Sunrise of the evening while watching Joly and Bossuet dance with Musichetta when the man comes in.
A fic in which Grantaire meets and rescue Enjolras on a First Order-controlled planet. It could get bigger, but I don't actually have ideas for the big plot it would require... ^^

- The Adventure of the Blue Box (Doctor Who/Sherlock Holmes -Translated from the french by SJF96 - 9,280 words)
Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson encounter a strange man, a blue box, and a confounding number of extravagant, impossible, and contradictory clues.
A Doctor Who/Sherlock Holmes crossover I had a lot of fun writing.

An immediate post-s3 fic, written in a fannish rush of love after the airing of Wrath of the Lamb. I'm very proud of it. :)

Rideo Ergo Sum (Batman - 4,839 mots)
A story about the orignins -or lack thereof) of the Joker, written almost 10 years ago (dear god), back when Nolan's Dark Night had just came out. Pinning down a voice with a good flow for the Joker's POV was a challenge: I won a contest with this one, and even if I would not probably write it quite the same now, I still like it very much!

I love get-together fics, and I love writing wordy Spock's POVs, so this fic has both, with Spock trying to apply logic to understand why he is obsessed with Jim's hands.
