I've always described Hanatarou of Bleach as a brave little toaster, because he is. He's a good healer but not much of a fighter at all, always getting picked on by the stronger ones. But despite his meek nature, there's a deep reservoir of courage, so I used his bravest moment so I'd finally have an icon of the description I kept using.
raynos, tenebris and I were discussing the follow-up to one of Ray's fics, where Ichigo and Rukia sort of run off to go be homeless in Karakura. We decided they could sleep in something you sometimes find on playgrounds for kids to play on and in. "A concrete tube," I said. "A concrete tube of love."

Captain Kyouraku Shunsui wanted his vice-captain to sprinkle cherry petals down on him from above for the visual effect. When she got tired of his antics, she dumped the whole thing on him. I think it's both an effective visual and a good summary of their relationship.
Ichigo's antithesis, his inner Hollow, him turned 180 degrees, waiting for him in the recesses of his soul. I just liked the stark creepiness of him there, ready to face Ichigo.
The only icon not made by me! All of the swords in Bleach have souls in them, and someone was making icons of them. This actually is fairly close to what Zangetsu looks like, him being one of the few swords whose true form we have actually seen. I'm not sure who the guy in the picture actually is.
