Today is kind of a special day...
- Law class has a field trip.
- SS 11 has a Holocaust Survivor coming.
So I got to the school at about 8:10am, in time for the head count to the field trip, and so I would know who didn't go and would be staying with me. In the end, 3 students didn't go. For one student, it was an optional trip, so he was fine. For the other two, they were supposed to stay with me. Only one student (Mitch) came to class. I really didn't give him too much of a hard time, knowing that he would be missing quite a bit of stuff and would be lost during the debrief the next day.
In SS11, several students didn't attend the presentation, one of whom I knew to be sick. The presentation when quite well except it was hard to hear the presenter at some points, and that there were outside noises interrupting the presentation. However, it was a good presentation and as far as I could tell, the students learned quite a bit. I debriefed with my A-Blk class who would have class with me after the presentation. The other class had me before, so I will debrief with them tomorrow.
There was quite an unfortunate incident with several students doing detention time with me. They will be cleaning the tables of graffitti for two reasons:
- actually creating the graffitti
- trying to leave my class early
From what I can see now, two students will not be coming, so they will have a seperate punishment tomorrow.
