I thought you had all the albums, actually. My opinions:
Self-titled - These days, my favorite album. It's somewhat less polished stuff, but it's great. Favorite songs: Jackson Cannery, Underground, Uncle Walter, Best Imitation of Myself. I love this whole album, though.
Whatever and Ever Amen - My first album. I chose to buy this first on the basis of One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces, which was one of the few songs I'd heard at the time. In retrospect, not that strong an album. Still good, but I skip a few songs on it. Favorite songs: One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces, Philosophy, Song for the Dumped, Battle of Who Could Care Less.
Naked Baby Photos - This isn't an "album," per se. It's a collection of earlier work, including some unreleased stuff, some old versions of some tracks on the other CDs and a little bit of live stuff. Fun to listen to, but hardly cohesive. Favorite tracks: Eddie Walker, Emaline, Tom and Mary, Satan Is My Master. (Not counting alt versions of stuff on other albums, of which there is a lot.) I've been kind of harsh, but the disc is still fun to listen to.
The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner - This is such an incredibly depressing album. Some very powerful stuff on it though. Favorite tracks: Don't Change Your Plans, Mess, Magic, Army. Cool points for Your Most Valuable Position, which is ambient music laid out behind a very long, rambling answering machine message from Ben's father, which works better than you'd think.
