Well, I heard back from PROMYS today and I didn't get the job. Now, on the one hand, I'm sort of curious as to what kind of crack they're smoking, as basically the only bad things about me were 1) I'm a male, and I'm sure the competition pool is harder for males and 2) I had never been in the program before (I'm sure they get a huge draw from former campers who have an advantage). But, on the other hand, at least I have a decision, and this frees me up to do NHSMUN stuff.
Still haven't heard about the NHSMUN position yet. I really do want it, and now that I have no conflict with the Summer Staff Meeting, I think that improves my chances for getting it. It'd be pretty ironic if, after all of this stress over "omg what am I going to do if I get both positions???" I ended up getting neither of them. And, yeah, I'd be upset if I didn't get the CoER job, but I could still come back as a 2nd year director, which would still be cool. So we're still playing the waiting game there. Oh, and same with my dad's job. Need to plan...
Right now I'm just waiting (hehehe) at SfA for this 2 hour tape dub to finish. Once that's done, I can go to Applebee's for day 4 of training (out of 5). Then, tomorrow morning, I can make the VHS dubs of this tape for final review. Whew! The project's almost done!!!
So, I have to help my brother study for the AP Calculus exam (which I was doing last night). He only needs a 3 to get credit from Elon, so that's good. However, given that he wasn't sure about the definition of the derivative last night, this could be difficult. Now, he claims that his teacher never told him the definition, which I find hard to believe, but whatever. Given that he's careless in his computations and completely unfamiliar with the theory of Calculus, he's pretty screwed.
I better get paid for this.
