Since I drive back up to Milwaukee so much now and do lots of driving for work, I figured it was time to get a more reliable car. I have been looking around online and asking people what would be good to get. I already knew that Toyota is amazing and I had heard amazing things about Honda. Originally I was looking into getting a Honda Civic (silver, of course).
I was planning on just going to CarMax and seeing what I could get there. But last night I found a website (automart.com) that gave some prices of cars at a Toyota dealer in Naperville. I found a 2001 Civic for $10,991 and a 2002 Toyota Prius for $9,991.
Katie and I went to look today and the price on the Prius was $12,991! So Vicki, the sales lady, who came to make her commissions on me said that she was obligated to sell it to me for $9,991. I test drove both cars, but decided to go with the Prius. She said that someone messed up on the website I was on and that price never should have been that low. YAY! I greatly benefited from someone's mistake. The retail price on that car is $15,750. Talk about luck!! I love the car. I put $1,000 down and financed the rest.
I am giving my old car to Vince, well, not giving it...I am selling it to him for $400. He gets a deal on it just because he is family and Nikki needs to do highway driving since her car cannot drive on the highway.
The car has more miles on it than I originally wanted in a car, it has about 93,000 miles on it. The Civic had around 50,000 miles. But it's a Toyota and the car selling lady said that it should go to well over 200,000 miles. Lets hope that she is right.
I don't have pics of my car, but here are some one's that I got off the internet. The color is the same.
It has a CD player and a tape player. Working air, cruise control, power windows and locks. This is such an upgrade for me.
This is what it looks like under the hood. Ahhh, beautiful Hybrid technology.
I love my new car so far. It doesn't squeal like my old car and I am not afraid of it dying on me. Having a real job is so nice. I may not be able to afford much food for the next five months, until I get my raise, but that's ok cuz I have a lovely environmental friendly car.
Tell me what you think of it.
