Today, the laws of the universe finally aligned properly, because you see, I was rewarded for doing the right thing :D
Situation: I've been not doing too well lately with my depression, so I'd contacted a counsellor through work who asked me to get a clinical diagnosis from a doctor. I went to see the doc on Wednesday (was having a really bad day that day too), and he gave me a req for some blood tests, and gave me a prescription. He said it's of course my choice, but he really felt they would help after what he'd heard from me, etc etc etc. Well, I went to get the bloodwork yesterday (had to wait to give urine sample because I forgot they'd need it and went before going there) because I had to fast for 12 hrs beforehand, and today was the day I was to start my meds.
And I did.
I didn't pussyfoot, I didn't put it off another day or make any excuses. I had lunch, then I took the damned pill with some root beer.
And so I'd done the right thing, and had prepared myself for the rest of the day lounging around in my PJs.
The REWARD: After playing games online most of the afternoon, I checked my Twitter feed, only to read something that floored me. One of my fav musicians, David Cook (yes, of American Idol fame, but he's actually good!), whom I follow, said the word Ottawa. Back in August I had checked to see if he was coming to Canada, and I only remember a Montreal date, no Ottawa one! I don't know if it was a last minute/secret surprise or something, but right away I google "David Cook" and "Ottawa", and I find the concert was tonight at the Ritual Nightclub downtown.
The show was to start at 7:30/8:00 or so, according to one thing I'd seen.
I'd checked my twitter @ 6:41.
So I didn't have enough time to take a shower, shave, or make myself up nice, so I slipped out of my pjs and into some jeans and a corset with a hoodie overtop, then grabbed my wallet, purse and keys, and ran to catch the bus. And yes, I made it in time! The show was fucking awesome!!! He's an wesome singer live, even silenced the audience a few times so he could sing a few verses a capella for effect. And my voice is now hoarse from woot-ing.
So the moral of this story is: do the right thing, take your bloody meds, and the universe will bring a little happiness your way :D
