Ushering in a new obsession: Hart of Dixie; fall TV so far...

Oct 13, 2011 22:24

Well it's three weeks into the fall season and some shows have pulled me in completely (Hart of Dixie, New Girl, 2 Broke Girls) and some have left me a bit cold (Secret Circle, Prime Suspect, Ringer) and still others are growing on me (Person of Interest, Unforgettable). Here is my opinion of the new shows so far: (Plus some Hart of Dixie goodies... actually I'm going to add one right now)

Enter at your own risk:

Group 1: Sorry your invitation to the party has been revoked. Better luck next time.

The Secret Circle: I was so bored! The characters lack depth of ... well anything. I can't seem to find any reason to care about the leads of the show the "secret" part of the Secret Circle isn't that thrilling. I keep hoping if I just hang on a little longer it might get interesting... so far that hasn't been the case.

Ringer: A show I wanted to love... but just don't. Sarah Michelle Gellar is/and forever will be Buffy to me (and Kendall from AMC before that) and I really wanted to like her new show, the sad part is I don't. It has intrigue and the characters are being flushed out (or rather Bridget is) but over all, once again I'm bored. I'm going to try a few more episodes, I just don't see my opinion changing... and that sucks.

Prime Suspect: Okay I get it. The male cops are hard drinking, sexist jackasses that don't want to admit a female cop is as good or better than they are. The ex-wife is a bitch and the woman in the middle always has to put up with it. ...Is this really how all the episodes are going to be? It's the same rehashed story each week with a different crime plot put in front of it. Not excited about that. So I'm moving on...

90210: (Okay not a new show but...) The geek got the girl, but in true shallow teen drama fashion, she isn't with him anymore. *yawn* Why do shows continue to break up quirky, interesting, loving couples in favor of the same old, same old hot!boy and hot!girl plot? I loved Max and Naomi because it was different, but now she's flirting with Austin, the hot guy and I'm over it. Oh don't even get me started on the Silver/Navid mess. That ship should have never sailed. *shudder* And we're also in for another round of Annie and Liam break up to date others, but really they still love each other underneath it all... *yawn again*

Group 2: You're in. Enjoy the refreshments:

Unforgettable: Thought it might be lame at first, but surprisingly, I like it. The characters are fairly light. We don't know much about them, but slowly we are learning about the main character and her past. It's just the right amount of fun and action. It's lighthearted and I've been enjoying the episodes more than I thought I would. So yay!

Person of Interest: This is one mysterious show. Nothing has really been explained, but in some ways it reminds me of one of my favorite shows from the past, The Pretender. I like the format of the show and the characters are interesting enough to hold my attention.

Group 3: Welcome to the party, you can join the VIP section:

2 Broke Girls: It's actually really funny and a bit dirty but not disgustingly so. It's a nice mix of what has been a comedy staple for years (fish out of water thrown into an unfamiliar situation) and added some spice. The premise is a little cliche, but cliche works, that's how it ended up being a cliche. I love Kat Dennings as hard nose Max. She kills me with her dead panned delivery. Beth Behrs as Caroline is so adorably naive about the "real" world she's found herself in while also being extremely intelligent at the same time. The two leads work well together. So this show is staying on my watch list.

New Girl: It's quirky. It's cute. It's not over thinking anything. I like the characters... all the characters which is surprising for me.

Hart of Dixie: LOVE THIS SHOW! Oh my goodness. It's so cute, and sweet, and funny, and there is plenty of eye candy to look at. The friendship between Lavon and Wade, Lavon and Zoe, and the possible hook-up/friendship between Zoe and Wade makes me smile. George is adorable as well. But really it's all about Zoe and Wade for me. I really can't describe how much I'm enjoying this show accurately enough so I'll just spam the hell out of this post with some pretty pictures and gifs of the couple that has captured my heart and attention.
