The show starts out with Mac looking into a puddle of water. As the shot pans we see that he is about to head into a building for a bust. At his side is Danny, who pulls out a picture of Lucy and kisses it. (So beautiful. Love Daddy!Danny and would be thrilled if Lindsay would get pregnant again so we can see the Messer family grow. *grin*)

Next the we see a cross on a chain. Mac kisses it and sticks the necklace back under his bullet proof vest. After that it's Flack's turn. He pulls out a badge (that I assume belonged to Angell). He rubs his thumb across it and before sliding it into a pocket. They all storm the building with guns posed in front of them. Mac chases a suspect up to the roof and they fight. Mac's gun gets dislodged from his hand, landing a distance away. The suspect manages to get the best of Mac, grabbing his gun and pointing it at his face. Mac waits for him to pull the trigger.

The gun jams, giving Mac enough time to take control of the situation. Pulling the slide, a bullet falls out and Mac points the gun at the suspect on the ground. Danny and Flack arrive just as Mac gets ready to shoot. They arrest the guy and Mac's first crisis of faith is over.

The team is sitting in a conference room, discussing the upcoming weeks assignments. Mac is sitting in his chair quietly observing as Jo talks. Danny has to appear in court and Hawkes offers to take his cases over so he can prepare. As the conversation goes on, the words become distorted and blurred. This is all from Mac's perspective. Danny turns to Lindsay and teases her that she wasn't even going to offer to help him after he thanked Hawkes. Lindsay's answer was he could solve his own damn cases.

As the scene continues, the conversations become second to the sounds. Everything reminds Mac of that moment on the roof. It gets to be too much and he leaves the conference room to go to his office. (Which looks freaking fantastic for a space that a week before was shot to hell and back). He picks up a file and begins reading it. Jo comes in and wants to know what happened. Mac talks about the case of a bodega murder 9 years before. It the last unsolved case he has.

Flack and he are at the store and talk about the case. Mac can't understand why the robbers/murderers went out the back and not the front door. Mac wants him to pick up the evidence and bring it back to lab. Flack worries that Mac's not alright. Mac assures him that he is.

Lindsay and Danny are working together on some evidence. Danny is processing some cocaine and tells Lindsay that he has an idea. She could sneak to the bathroom, strap the coke to her body and then he'll go home, cut and bag it. Lindsay asks if he is okay with using her as a drug mule. He nods that he is. If she wants to be rich, she has to be willing to take some risks. She says that it seems like she's taking all the risk. She's not a fan of his idea. He tells her that he has another idea on how to earn some extra money. She asks if it involves him dressing up in drag and turning tricks, because she's all for that. "How does Sergeant Messer sound?" he asks. Lindsay's surprised, he's thinking about taking the exam? Maybe he answers. She thinks that's great idea. He then lets her know that he took it already and he's waiting on the results. Danny hasn't said anything because, while it will put him on the track to running the lab one day, it will also take him from the team and her. Lindsay is touched and tells him they'll cross that bridge when they get to it. She's thrilled that he is thinking of their future. They share a smile.

Mac continues to investigate the murders at the store. Through the evidence they find out about a missing girl. She was there and the murderers kidnapped her. The team finds out that while one of the robbers wanted to kill her, because she was a problem and a liability. The other one was having none of that. The young girl and he took off and lived as father and daughter. Mac figures out that West took the girl to Georgia and went to find him. Once he arrived a shoot out happened with the suspect being killed. The girl, now in her teens, points a gun at Mac. He talks her down, grabbing the gun from her hands. The mother and daughter reunite at the police station in New York.

Jo asks Mac why he didn't tell her about his near death experience. He has been in deadly situations before but that was the first time he looked it in the eyes. She tells him that he has been struggling with it. Asking a lot of what ifs. He admits he has been a bit. But mostly he just wondered how much longer can he do this. She realizes that's why he returned to his last unsolved case. He needed closure. Mac knows he has done a lot of good, maybe he has done his part.

Lindsay is standing by a table when Danny walks up to her. His face is slightly blank. She asks if he got his results. He says with a Tony Montana impression, "Say hello to," switching back to his normal voice, "Sergeant Messer." They embrace. She's thrilled for him. He hugs her tightly as well. They pull apart, share a smile and then a small kiss.

The show ends with Mac placing the file of the bodega shooting in the solve box in a cabinet and walking through the crime lab. He stops watching Adam work on a light...before it lights up and blinds the lab tech. This brings a smile to his face. Then we're taken to the morgue where Sheldon and Sid are talking over a body. Hawkes gets a call from Camille (*gag*) and Sid tells him to take it. Jo watches Mac from above as he leaves the lab and walks the streets of New York.

Opinion:

-Loved-

1. The banter between Lindsay and Danny.
2. Seeing Danny kiss a picture of Lucy. Just so sweet.
3. Mac and Flack working together. I like their friendship.
4. The robber/Kidnapper... was I supposed to believe that the little girl was better with him then her drunk mom? Because that's exactly how I felt. I think he treated her better and frankly I was more upset by his death/her return to New York then I was over her being kidnapped in the first place.
5. Mac. Gary Sinise is incredible. Love him
6. Seeing Adam get hit by the light at the end. It was great comedy.

-Hated-
1. Jo acting as if she knows all. I'm trying like hell to warm up to her because I do love Sela Ward, but she's only been there for a year and acts like she knows the team better than anyone else. I miss Stella. Stella getting Mac to open up would have been more believable. They worked together for years and had that bond. Jo and Mac don't.
2. Camille is still around... WTH? Major dislike for that character
