So I watched the entire season 2 True Blood with my friend because we are in the middle of a rain storm and there is nothing to do. While watching I fell in love with some characters, in like with some and simply tolerate others. I'm not much into the gore of the show, but I actually think (other than the premiere/beginning of the second episodes) the show was bloodier last season than it has been this season. Of course that could change seeing as there are a couple more episodes left in the season. Here is a run down of my thoughts on the characters and then the couples.
Characters:
Bill- reminds me of Edward Cullen--only older. He obviously hates himself and yes he did do some horrible things when he was first turned, but the constant self-loathing is driving me crazy. If the show writers follow the same path the book did for this character, from what I've heard the character is on a downward road and it will only get worse. I've never read the books so I can't say from personal knowledge what this character does, but I've heard from others it isn't good.
Sookie- can grate on the nerves. She has cute moments and she can be fiery but at times I just roll my eyes at her. Obviously most of the action involves her, so she has to be in the thick of things- but I wish she was a little smarter at times. I will give her credit for sticking to her beliefs and staying loyal to the people she cares about. She is ultimately a good character- she just needs to be less Mary Sue.
Jason- is dumber than a pile of bricks but I have to say he is one of my favorite characters. Love him. Love that he can kick ass without having any "special" powers whatsoever and at the end of the day, he'll always come to Sookie's defence because he loves his sister. It was awesome seeing him be a huge part of saving Sookie, Bill, and Eric in the church. I laughed so hard when he shot that guy with the paintball gun. Having played that once, I know those things hurt like a witch when they strike you.
Tara- is not my favorite. I don't really care for her at all. I just tolerate her character because she's Sookie's best friend and some times she makes me laugh.
Lafayette- is the man. I love him so much. They could do an hour or two about just him and I'd be one happy girl. I hated seeing him in that basement in the beginning of the season. It just didn't seem right for him to be surrounded by black- his character has too much spunk and style for that. It made me hate Eric a little, even though I know that it's just part of the vampire way. When he finally got out, he just couldn't bounce back and that was smart of the writers. I don't think anyone of us would go back to being ourselves after being trapped in a vampire basement for three weeks thinking we would be killed at a moments notice and then watch Eric completely destroy another human right in front of you- yuck.
Eric- is awesome and yet sometimes I dislike him. He really is one of the most complicated characters on the show. There are moments when I'm not sure I like him much and then there are moments when I just love him to pieces. Honestly the only reason he made it to my dislike list was because he hurt Lafayette. If it hadn't been for that, I probably would just love him. Overall Eric is the one character I don't think we have even begun to understand. All the characters on this show have different shades and secrets, but Eric seems to be the most clouded in mystery...and I really can't explain why I think that. Maybe it's just there always seems to be another layer going on-another story that hasn't been shown.
Pam- isn't shown much, but when she is she makes me smile. Eric and her are quite a pair. I like the sarcasm that drips from her words when she talks.
Sam- is always in last place it seems. This poor guy finally meets someone like him and she ends up working for the devil. I wish the writers would cut him a break because I really like him. He is kind and thoughtful...even if he does have a temper. Not to mention, he is very hot. I love his interactions with Lafayette and others. He has the most sense of most of the characters and is grounded in a lot of ways.
Hoyt- is the cutest, sweetest guy ever. I want Hoyt to be my boyfriend. He is absolutely adorable and I think he might be one of my favorites on the show. Period. I just melt everytime he comes on screen. I wish the writers would give him more airtime. Unfortunately, I don't think they will, but what little he gets is wonderful. He shows the human race in the best light- he is so amazing.
Jessica- is also cute and funny. She has troublemaker written all over her, but she's so sweet that it's easy to forgive her. I actually feel sorry for her. She's really new to everything and while she has fun, she's also so lost at times. I do think she brings out the best parts of Bill. He really treats her like a daughter and she in turn gives him some life...so to speak.
Godric- is like the vampire Jesus. I don't know what to make of his past with Eric. Obviously they have the connection of being Maker (Godric)/ Made (Eric), but if the writers follow the books, then they are also ex-lovers. Right now, I just love him. He had a peace about him. He forgave and I know he hated all the stuff he did. He committed suicide because he couldn't handle that anymore, which is sad because I really liked him.
Couples:
Bill/Sookie- Have moments when I think they work well together and moments when I just can't believe they ever got together. I do believe they love each other, but there is a toxic taint to that love. Bill needs Sookie to feel good and slightly human. Sookie needs Bill because he protects her. But she's definitely out growing him. It wouldn't be long now, sorry to all their shippers.
Eric/Sookie- are very hot together. He brings out a fire in her. He pushes her and finds her amusing. I actually can't wait to see where their connection-and they do have one- goes from here. Eric isn't easy to read so seeing her try and figure him out is fun. Of course, she's not the only one lost- he can't figure her out either. The scenes with them kissing, nude in bed, in Sookie's dream really showed that when the time comes they are going to be explosive.
Jessica/Hoyt- are so cute and sweet they could be a gummy bear. I love that they were both virgins and lost their virginity together- even if because she's a vampire, her virginity returned. (God that has got to suck) There is something so nice about their love. Obviously they have chemistry, but they also have an innocence to them that is nice on this show where there is so much darkness it can feel overwhelming. I have to say that they might be my favorite couple on the show because of that.

I want to let everyone know that the storm isn't doing much to us. We are just getting a lot of rain and, for today, that will probably not change. **hugs**
