So, after the crazy History November picked up, I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Papers, midterms, more papers...it all hits in November. Its the perfect time for midterms that aren't being held in the Christmas exam period, and all of the papers they assign at the beginning of the year require at least 8 weeks for students to complete. (That's the idea, anyway.) So, as a result, everything is due around the same time. I had nothing in September, ONE midterm in late October, and now 8 papers, assignments and midterms all in this month.
But this weekend was a brief respite, so I took the time to myself...did a little healing, yo.
Rented Lord of the Rings: The Third Age for Xbox. Pretty sweet. Stayed in both nights, and only reluctantly got out of my sweats to go the store.
Since I've been to Western, I've really seen what stress can do. I've never been one to shy away from high pressure activities. In hockey, I loved being on the ice when there's a minute left, and we need a goal. But there have been times at Western where either my friends or myself have had serious problems with the stress. I don't think it helps that they're constantly beating it into you that "these four years will determine the next 60 of your life." :S
The only thing I've found that really works is to get through it, and then take a weekend to yourself. Its quite soothing. I urge everyone to try it sometime. When things get really bad, just get them done, and commit yourself to a sort of hibernation/decompression. (May only work for introverts.)
Plans for today: On campus from 3:30 -10:30.... paper and midterm this coming Monday. Had my weekend, now am back at it.
