Brooklyn Court is... fucktarded

So I got a Grand Jury summons a couple months ago, I delayed it the first time because it would overlap with Christmas, and at the time I assumed that I would be able to complete my trip to Denver (somehow I failed to predict the 3' of snow the day of my departure). So I had it delayed until the random date of January 29th. I follow the instructions on the letter this morning, report to room 438 at 9:00am. So I go to the court house. Go through security, make my way to the fourth floor, find room 438. The door to the room has a big sign on it, "JURORS: DO NOT ENTER WITHOUT COURT OFFICER" so I sit on a bench in the hallway next to other people holding the jury summons. 9 am rolls by, and I sit. And I wait. And I sit. Every now and then someone will fail to see the big sign and walk in, only to be escorted out quickly and told that we will be called when they are ready. At 10 a woman comes out and calls about ten names. Not mine though. I walk up to her and ask why my name wasn't called. She looks at me like I'm an idiot. Did you just get here? Are you Jose Caldero? Jimmy Smith? (people who didn't respond when called). No I said and showed her my notice. She looks at it. And then says "Oh, they moved the room for Grand Jury Duty. Ask a duty officer where to go". So I walk over an officer at the end of the hall and he just smirks "Grand Jury? Yeah, they moved that to room 524" I look around. No signs. No notice. Apparently I was supposed to know this... magically. So I go up to 524 and I'm there just in time to get to hear "...and everyone left now will have to postpone". So I postponed to June.
Of course I didn't tell the story quite that way to my boss. I said that since we're short staffed (the other Mac tech left the company Friday, so they were freaking out that the PC guys would have to figure out how to sit and not do anything for both Mac and PC users) that I chose to delay jury duty until the timing was better for the company. Ha.
