It's official.
I will be moving to Dallas, Texas, on October 1st.
I plan to stay there for up to a year... maybe longer depending on how good things are going there, but I do not want to stay too long from Portland because I love it here. The friends, my family, the places, the weather (especially the rain), and the nightlife... are all going to be missed.
It's just that jobs are NOT looking very hot right now and probably will stay that way for the next year or so, and I need to do something with my life rather than continuously looking for an opportunity. There is almost 3 times as much job opportunities in the Dallas/Austin area than the entire state of Oregon combined!
Another reason, however, is my friend Jessica. She lives out in the Tyler area (which is about an hour east of Dallas), and with the feelings we have shared with each other, it ill give us the opportunity to explore each other in person rather than on the Internet. Plus, I have my friend Kevin Rice who I can live with for a bit that lives in Dallas, and he might be able to get me connected with the right people while living there. He's an editor for GameSpy and Computer Games Magazine, and I might find myself in what I have always dreamt of doing: working for a gaming company!
There's a lot of possibliities for me down there that I do not have up here, but I only want to explore them and find out what doors I can open for myself. :D
I doubt this is goodbye, but I know I will miss all of you. Hell, I finally might be able to get around to writing in my journal again now that I will be out of reach of my closest friends (whoa, I almost typo'd that to read "closet friends"... far from the truth? hehe).
