1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
discover what it was like to truly fall in love with a person, not for the sake of my own hopes and expectations, but just because the person was that amazing to me.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
i had no new year's resolution last year. this year it is to decide what it is i truly want out of my life and take steps toward it, instead of all this dilly-dallying i've been doing.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
yes: my cousin amanda had her second child. we were the same year in high school, so this makes me feel a little old.

my great grandmother died at the age of 99. she was still kickin' up until the end. but i don't know if i would say we were close: she knew me as "joey's daughter"

7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
i'd have to say the third week of august, specifically two days: one i spent at a park with someone who was and still is dear to me, on the greenest field, laying on a blanket, eating grapes and cheese and crackers and wine. the second day would be the day i left, and my plane happened to stop through the city in which he lived and had traveled back to the previous day; it turned out he got out of class just in time to visit me for that hour at the airport. best hour of my life.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
trusting in God even when it doesn't make sense to.
9. What was your biggest failure?
taking way too long to get out of a tremendously unhealthy relationship. and then realizing how my heart had become hard and my beliefs overly legalistic. but this realization was definitely something of a success in itself.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
no, i've been blessed not to have.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
my mukluks (furry eskimo boots). i get compliments on them on a consistent basis whenever i wear them.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
my dear friend katie, who took an amazing leap of faith in God by going on missions training and then a mission trip to india (where she is now), and just by being an amazing person, so true to the heart God gave her; my friend bobby, who's heart and determination never cease to inspire me; my cousin jake, who recently got engaged the old-fashioned way of courtship; my brother mark, just for his general awesomeness; my dad, for regaining the will to live though his circumstances would seem to diminish such a thing.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
above all, my own. but also someone who is no longer in my life. well make that two people who are no longer in my life. geez a lot of people make me feel appalled and depressed; moreso, disappointed would be the word.

"along the way/tears drown in the wake of delight/there's nothing like this built today/you'll never see a finer ship in your life/we sail today..."
