HP Party Blog Entry #1: Preparations
I thought I'd run through party preparations for those who may be into being as anal as me for future reference (or sanity check :P). This is probably the artsy side of me usually feeling utterly bored and deprived suddenly jumping into action. Some photos included.
- Purchased random things in stores. Some observations:
1) I love Michaels! If you ask the saleslady nicely she gives you a 40% discount. :P
2) The HP5 napkins suck (singatures of the DA?!?) but I had no other choice. Bring back cool House Crest napkins, Party City!
3) Did you know that "Whole Milk" is now called "Vitamin D Milk"? Anyway, it resulted in much confusion on my part until I sheepishly put one next to the 2% and compared Nutrition Facts. Haha, clever one you dairy farms, you!
- Made goblets similar to last party. Photos tomorrow (they are drying now). Stamped on Hogwarts Crest (cut with foam) onto plastic wine glasses with NEW and improved Venetian gold leaf paint. Last party's goblets failed in that the paint refused to stick onto the plastic wine cups. Got to experience what it would be like if my hands were made of gold! Fyi: expensive gold leaf paint translates to: caution! very hard to get off skin! Scratch furiously with bristled brush unless you want to spend more money on purchasing xylene.
- This year, I decided Quidditch will be Slytherin vs. Gryffindor (best of three)! I have a hunch that more people will be on the Slytherin team than the Gryffindor team. :P I bought nice royal green and red paper and painted pin-ons for the Slytherin team members.
- Decided on menu! Among the goodies: chocolate gateau, cockroach clusters (haha), cornish pasties... some good ol' British food!
- Documents for a secret project: Everyone wants their very own Ministry pamphlet, of course! Complete with authentic purpleness. :P
- Finally (and most fantastically)... designed personal line of butterbeer! Screw college, I should just go open a brewery....

Alas, I have no color printer right now. I really want to print out pretty n' colorful house badges and do some kind of sorting event.... *scratches head* It's all b/c Party City only has stupid stickers of movie!Harry and muchtoopretty!Hermione. Seriously. Why no House stickers?
