Lost at Sea by
Bryan Lee O'Malley My rating:
4 of 5 stars I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, as I wasn't that wild about Scott Pilgrim (loved the movie, though) and was basically only checking this out because of the two page spread in it that references my favorite band, Sloan. ("My first name is Amal and I'm a girl!")
Anyway, I read it late at night in a quiet house, and thought O'Malley did a fantastic job of teleporting me into that car, into an era of life that's way behind me now. At times I thought the script was a little too wordy, but it got me inside of Raleigh's head in such a way that it made the payoff of the last quarter or so of the book more than worth it. Not flawless by any stretch, but an evocative piece of work and I'm glad I read it.
