RP for starlightfell: Jared talks to JJ and Micah about Marshall

May 30, 2016 01:37

He wasn't usually one to sing his own praises, but Jared knew that they had seriously killed it tonight. The crowd had been huge-- hundreds, maybe thousands, just a sea of people there to listen to rock and roll and have fun and lose themselves in the music. He had been slightly worried that by the time they went on to do their set that the crowd would be thinning, that people might be getting tired and wanting to call it a night, or that they might not recognize MDSE and decide it was a good time to head out.

He had never been more happy to be proven wrong in his entire life. It had been the most amazing crowd he had ever performed to and he had never had so much fun being on stage before.

They had just finished about twenty minutes ago. Now that the adrenaline was starting to wean a little and all of the congrats had been passed around, he was sitting backstage on one of the big trunks used to haul their gear around. He was hot and sweaty, so he'd found a relatively clean-looking towel somewhere and had it around his neck while he drank some water to try to cool off.

Travis walked up and patted him on the back. "We're going to merch soon, J. You're coming with us, right?"

"Of course I am," Jared grinned. "I wouldn't miss it, dude. I'll meet up with you guys."

As Travis walked off, Jared reached for his phone to check social media. He was thrilled to see all the photos he was tagged in and all the positive reactions from the crowd. As he scrolled through his Twitter feed, his face lit up when he spotted a new tweet from Elena.

@ElenaMunez "Our friends MDSE just put on a KILLER fucking show! Did you guys see that solo from @JPhillips?? #legendary"

Jared hadn't been sure if Elena or the rest of Falling Starlight had been able to catch their set. Falling Starlight's set had been earlier in the evening, and though Jared had been in the crowd and had tried to catch Elena after, he had missed her. Knowing that he had helped put on a good show for fans thrilled Jared to no end, but hearing it from Elena meant the world to him.

Especially when their set had been fucking amazing. It had been the first time since the second attempt that Jared had seen Elena back in action, back in her element, holding the one thing in life that seemed to come more naturally to her than holding a razor did. And she hadn't just put on a good show. She had dominated that stage. JJ, Micah, and Elena had always shared the stage, had never tried to show up each other, but there was no way she couldn't have tonight. She owned that stage like a fucking queen.

He was just about to reply to her message when a new tweet showed up on his feed. He scrolled down and he involuntarily tensed up when he spotted Marshall's name. He had only ever really followed Marshall out of courtesy. He definitely wasn't friends with him, and if he had to be perfectly honest, it was hard for him to be civil and polite most of the time. But he had done his best, for Elena's sake.

@MarshallMalone "I told her she was strong enough to go back out there. Thank God she listened to me."

His blood was boiling before he had ever finished reading it. He squeezed his phone tightly in his hand, and resisted the very strong urge he suddenly had to throw it on the ground as hard as he could.

He hopped off the equipment trunk and ran through the backstage area to get outside. Once he was out and he didn't see anymore wandering stagehands, he let out a five second-long string of loud obscenities as he kicked a brick wall to punctuate each word.
